So i have been looking for a game like this for ages, purely by chance i notice it on steam just yesterday and so far, all that i have seen and read make me convinced to buy into it, and i shall, but i was wondering (and apologies if this has been covered all ready previously and i have overlooked it) will the game after Chris`s next updates especially the players compounds walls, will it be much more closer to the games should look completed?
I get the game is far from done but i`m of two minds to try it right now, or wait till the next bunch of updates that mean u can have a secure(ish?) compound as the completed game would have and so on (techs and other things(female characters, there is a huge girl player base out there, that should really be added soon) i can live without till there done) i just mostly wonder what the community thinks as of now, should newbies try it as is or wait for a little more polish to be added...
On a side note, Chris if you ever read this post, this game is something i have been waiting for for so long its unreal. well done sir.
Impressive

The game as it stands is quite a lot of fun, I bought it over a year ago and have played up half a dozen different squads, and invested more time in this alpha than I have in many retail releases of AAA games. I suppose it comes down to a matter of personal preference, but despite the fact that the game is far from finished, there are advantages to purchasing it in its alpha state. The most obvious of which may be price, when the game is complete and released the price will reflect that.
Mr Talonious makes a good point, buying now is cheaper than it will be when it is finished (it has already gone through one price rise since I bought in) and chris has made sure, so far, that all updates are backwards compatible with your saves. This means that you can start playing a character and build your faction as each update comes out. There is no need to restart each time you can simply add new things as updates come out.
I won't argue about how fun I find the game as that is simply a relative thing and there is no way to compare my feeling to yours but the game is not totally barebones; there are many features and tools at your disposal with which to attempt to shape the game world.
So, for those first two reasons I would encourage you to consider a purchase.

pie
Well the sooner u start playing the better,
. Haha, well after a while it might get a little boring offc since 1s uve done everything there's not much more to do, but since u know its in alpha u can deal with it
.
I agree its a great game, but unfinished offc. (Not enough enemies to my liking, but that can be modded)
But if u start now, then when the walls are finaly back then u dont have to start from scrap.
So then u probably have build up some reserves and are strong enough to actually defend without a wall.
So it will be easier to build a wall :-p. And when its build its even more easy.
Also u can try some stuff out now in the beginning to see what u like doing or where u wanna build ur city/outpost. How the basic mechanics work.
And about female characters, well having both female and male characters ingame haha i would be a little more protective towards female chars.
And i would let them make my food
Well it kinda only matters which gender my first character has as my "bond" with him is the strongest.
So i think its kinda normal for a girl to start with a character that is a girl. Offc it wouldnt be a biggie if i have to start with a female character i just wont give her the name of an ex of mine or i just run her into a group of bandits
.
So for "newbies": if u can manage game bugs and crashes, and arent bothered with incomplete content, this should be certainly a game u have to play :p.
As Claudius said and alot will agree with it, most of us have played far more expensive and finished games then this, that where less fun to play.
Ill end here else it will get to long

Thanks all for your honest opinions, you should ask for commission your great sales pitchers lol, I am just about to go get it on steam now, will get into it at the weekend, as for the backwards compatability of saves, thats awesome and impressive, I lived with SOTS2 through thick and thicker and lost so many hours through incompatible updates I lost all love for the game (got it at release).
Thanks again
Thanks again
