There will be depth, if not necessarily variety, though I think it's more than safe to assume that there will be more variety to come. Speaking of unarmed combat, that's one thing I'm particularly excited to delve into and get to use.

Friday april 5th, Chris posted:

In the end I decided to work on weapon crafting. So the next update should be a good one, it will add weapon research and crafting, ore mining, and a lot more research levels and upgrades for various things. I'm also going to make the higher level research technologies take a lot lot longer to complete than the ones at the start.

Armour and clothing crafting will be added later after I have added in the new character/armour artwork, which will be quite soon.

It won't be too long for the next update, probably about a week. Progress speed partially depends on my ability to dodge PMs and emails and pretend they're not there.

Here's a list for you guys, of the next updates I'm planning (in rough order). Remember that this is just the top of my list, it's not everything. Far from it.

Weapon crafting and new research tiers (1 week)
Walls
New character + armour artwork, better character customisation.. Will replace everything, probably leaving all your characters naked after the update.
Armour + clothing crafting.
AI harassment, threats, raids and assaults on your base.
Females
Sound
Crossbows, ranged combat
New bigger world map, layout, and varied biomes.

I'll stop there because I could go on forever. The above list will take at least a good few months
This was posted on the main page, so weapon variety is on its way.

Hi,

I got the game only recently, and must say I really enjoyed myself. I feel there's a lot of potential there for some awesome and unique stories for players to create.

Combat, I wonder how the bow and arrow will work i.e. graphic speed of arrows, whether it is quick and is simple a calculation of whether you miss or not and damaged caused, or will the arrow slowly move giving players and AI a chance to dodge, and impact means a hit?

I like the idea of being called to war. Your character and their party are summoned to take part in a large scale batte perhaps giving opportunities to earn money, affinity to certain fractions etc

Keep up the excellent work, I'm looking forward to the updates!

I really hope it's an automatic, number based hit/miss system, like what other RPGs such as WoW does. If the projectile was rendered and you had to manually dodge it, that would just turn ranged combat into an annoying minigame thanks to the game's imprecise control system and the potentially huge number of combatants. Not to mention, whenever a volley of arrows is fired off, you could just pause to game and individually order your troops to move and doge the arrows, which would be so unfun and exploitative of the system.

Please do this! Being able to join the army and become a faceless grunt is something I really want to see in the game. Perhaps even being able to get promoted until you lead your own battalion where you can then stage a coup and take over the town you're supposed to be protecting once you become general.

Thanks Dovecoon

Yeah I completely get you on the ranged system, think a hit/miss % and random body part aspect would be better.

If ranged is too be implemented, will there be an automatic gear swap when enemy get too close, or will players have to do this manually? If manually can there be a hotskey for weapon changing. I think with the current set up a skirmish mode where the ranged unit avoids melee wouldnt work, as you can run at the moment and not get hurt even if you're being chased while surrounded.

Can attack notification be added as well, when party is out town running, and my base gets attacked, I dont know until the person is unconscious. Makes for very difficult micro managing at the moment

Really excited about the ranged combat being introduced and armour. Keep up the good work guys.

Maybe a dexterity based draw/ draw skill should be implemented?

I personally would like 2 things in the next patch, one thing being music for fights because I like to let the game run when I'm doing other stuff to be "productive" so knowing when my guys are being attacked is nice (Kenshi is running as I type this out). Also I would like to see the ability to load my game and have my guys doing the last thing they were up to so I don't have to reassign them to there rolls, like if I have some guys set to medic that they will fight then heal right after the battle or my guys mining and when I load back in there mining again without me having to assign them. I might just be lazy but it would be nice. Those are just two thing that wouldn't be hard to do, but I don't and never have written code so I don't really know how hard that would be. Also walls would be nice

First off, I would like to address everyone out there looking for online gameplay. GO PLAY SOMETHING ELSE. This game is NOT about that. so you need to stop whining, and actually try to help improve the game.

I would like the trading, alternative source of income idea. But I think the aspect of missions and quests would be really great to keep players occupied for a while. In the meantime you can work on the things that take longer, so everyone is happy. This way you can keep people busy and take some of the stress off :D

Absolutely love this game! Its my favorite out of all RPG's, and I know it will be great! :D

Ditto on the adding additional sources of income or fetch quests to keep people a little busy while they work on the big stuff. Wish things like Endurance and Fitness got better marks. There is currently so much of the character stats that are just not implemented which should be easy to do and completely change character development. Could keep us busy for a while. 8-)

The Steam Forum is even worse about the whining of no co-op. I pretty much told them the same as you did lol

I agree. its a simple thing to add as our Dev stated in the poll, and it would give us something else to play around with and do.

I love this game as well. its frigging awsome sauce great. but i teeter on performance part to. so maybe multi threading and missions both would be a great next step .

This poll vote seems rather old(and most likely be ignored now when comes to voting), so i would say vote at this moment would be rather useless(tho i actually did anyway xD), if anything a new one should be done(maybe with some new options that was not before as some here are implemented), and this would had been the best time to it as the Chris stated in the last update news he sent he was unsure what to do next so we could give him an hand, or a simple click in this case  .

***************** Possible spoilers for those who want to find stuff out for themselves *****************

I suspect all I'd like to see is planned for anyway and is probably more 'quality of life' than major bread and butter requests but here goes.

* I'd like to see minions put steel, cloth, bread and rum into the chests I conveniently placed nearby.

* My minions wait until a machine's full before offloading whatever it is being manufactured, even if they have nothing better to do. Can they unload at 4 units instead of 5 + 98%?

* The penultimate stone mine and refinery require no workers but some poor bloke still has to stand around getting sore legs loading raw stone.

* The ability to permanently hide/show roofs and the ability to keep doors permanently open.

* If there are multiple people building, have only 1 of them collect resources unless the job requires more materials than 1 can carry. This would save minions walking around with excess building materials stopping them from carrying anything else.

* Have research times reflect the actual time ie no negative research times.

* As for major updates, the ability to craft clothes and armor (and dye them?) would be good. Having traders visit my stronghold would be pretty nice too.

Overall, a very economy oriented post but I haven't really tried combat much yet.

This ones are all planed, be one of them assign permanent jobs, to make them check all mines and see if they working properly and not full, the craft part will be too (maybe in next ones or not if some orders changed), but the dying part is unsure but i guess can say will be possible due to modding.

And the storages for the moment for such products they just not created yet because they came with last updates as well i believe.

Remy wrote:* Have research times reflect the actual time ie no negative research times..

That s just a bug which came with lsat update.

As for the others i sorry but cna t really answer, the 5+98% is due to cap at 5 items, but they always start to buuld other before trasnfer itens, so it s stops there the begining of other, would be good if a second worker if present would move the items when at this number (or an outsider worker with job assiggned) move them around to storages and so on.

Yeah just throwing this out there; I have experienced first hand the open roof and room thing. Its bad. This game engine simply cannot handle so many items loading and running at one time, that is why the game slows down when you constantly switch from characters on opposite sides of the map, constantly loading the screens, items, machines, etc. :( The others are good, but some have already been implemented. :D

So I think your ideas are great but you need to know that some things simply can't be done, you try programming and coding. It's not that easy.

Minor request that solves an above problem; Allow us to put up to max building materials in a building husk at a time.

For example: Small house 0/50, currently there are levels that your workers do. Lets say every 5, then they go get more, we should be able to deposit all 50 of the building mats in the construction, and then just build it to 100 precent from there.

If you do it this way there will be a little more content early on, plus it would be another incentive to leery buyers. However, that Multi-threading idea should also be implemented early so performance can stay smooth. (At this point performance is smooth (great job on early patching) so feature content should be a higher priority).
I'd second this. At this point, I'm currently at a stage where there isn't much to do except wait for some poor bandits to 'accidentally' wander into my outpost area so I can slaughter them.
WIth my setup, I'm manufacturing so much that I cannot sell off fast enough due to limited space on vendors. It sure would be nice if roaming merchants would buy my wares.

2. a greater variety of weapons spears axes daggers trhowing weapons ect
3. more biomes i realise that thye are planned but make it so that there is everything from desert to rainforest to tundra to savanna ect
4. tactics such as ambush (you can order men to burry themselves in sand hide behind trees ect until enemies are close) different battle formations ect
5. based on if 4's ambush gets added in a surprise bonus to attacks if they werent expecting it many can die bedore they even draw thier swords
6. animals i know these are planned but just some suggestions
elephants can be tamed and rode into battle
predators like wolves lion tigers and bears oh my :)
prey creatures
rhinos
birds
pack animals that caravans can use to transport goods
ridin animlas self explanitory
and finally mythic creatures creatures that are not believed to be real in the game like death worms, roc the bird, non magical dragon like beings ect nearly impossible to kill they have no fear never run they dont have to be big just deadly and im not saying magic creatures but creature that are beyond rare and would take an excedingly long time to find and that one would proboly reget finding. they could possibly wipe out your entire squad
7.oceans seas river lakes ect to fish in sail across ect (if there are mythic creatures a captian ahams great white whale could be one) :) (would have used his name but the cite bleaped out the 2nd part.
8. 7th century style pistols/muskets/rifles/musketoons they are musle loaders and they take a long time to reload but they are powerful not accurate though.
9. diplomats
10. goverment democracy republics monarchys dictaorships ect
11. gold silver hems ect mining raw materials that are extremly valuable
12. mining that requiers you to find a vien not just biuld a rock
13. mining that creates tunnels your men can go into
14. biuldings with multiple floors.
15. sculptures and various other valuable arts that can be sold at a high price espicly to nobles
16.ways of disposing fo bodies graves crematoriums ect
17. when animals come out they move to find drink and hunt each other.
18 and finally the best idea i have had so far a monty python and the holy grail reference like as a mythic creature a KILLER RABBIT or the knights of NI
MONTY PYTHON WILL CONQUER
19. oh and an empire system like diffeent nations will declare war/peace fight conquer cites and on the map you can see what cities belong to what faction
and yes i know this is a long post but i love kenshi and would like to share my ideas for any improvement.
