I would like to agree with the posts elsewhere in here that say compasses should be implemented into the game. They could come standard or be a craftable/bought item and would make land navigation much better.
I think it would be cool to have an option to not have the map mark your exact location. It would require the player to use terrain association to figure out where he/she is. The compass would be even more valuble if this option were to be implemented.
Buildable bridges would be a cool and helpful addition. My current settlement is on a raised flat section of land near the capitol town. There is similar land near by that is inaccessible by foot but would be great for expansion. A short 10 to 20 meter bridge could reach over the separating depression. While bridges would only have uses in certain instances depending on terrain, I think they would be a good option down the road in later development of the game.
I downloaded the game last weekend and have been enjoying it in it's early stages. I'm looking forward to the final product. Keep up the good work.

A compass has been already talked about and ramps/bridges too.
