Upcoming update... anyone else disapointted?
I logged onto the website as I do every few hours to check for a new update and *SHOCK!* a new post,
Anyway I read the post and ... well to be honest I am very disappointed, I mean I sure hope there are some bug fixes coming up because the amount of crashes I have been getting lately has stopped me playing.
I thought walls would be fixed in the next update?
I really couldn't care what my character looks like to be honest its not that important to game play, dunno if I the only one?

I also think is not important to the gameplay, but is always a step done, not disapointed at all, every advance is an advance in my opinion, be the less important stuff or the important ones, and if you look well, is not only the asthetics being implanted here, armours come with it, so is not only the "beauty" being improved, also a part of the gameplay being improved, may not directly but something, but as i said to me, every advance is good, be a small thing or small one.
Once the AI is revamped as i was told the walls should be back, was not this one, might be next, might be a hard thing to do i don t know, and i don t think the walls at the moment are that important anyway, this to me xD.

It s Hbrown!! Gotta get some pies!
I was just hoping for more bug fixing, stability and performance related updates and walls.
I know based off whats in this next patch the delay between this and the last patch is justifiable but I would of thought with the game being on steam and auto-updates for clients being a simple thing, smaller updates could be pushed out quickly.
I would certainly prefer to see fixes and minor updates more regular than having to wait for over a month with no word on whats happening until just before a release.
I might be being a tad picky here and I know if Chris reads this he will probably think "do people think I sit around doing nothing all day" etc etc as I know this feeling (I work in IT), I am sorry I can't contain myself I just don't see character customization as important at all but yeah when its done its done ... well until more content is added.
I just can't wait for more outpost related stuff.

He won t release news to alarm he ficing bugs, you ll only see fully what he did and changed with the update himself, so only then you ll see the bugs he fixed, in notices he only tells the major stuff to do, which this time s the new models from characters and ARMOR, with it armor crafting as well.
And i don t think this is all which will be added within that uddate, only with the update we ll be seing all that he is releasing.
An i might be wrong on this one, but i guess to implement the models might be some good move for now, as there some people who might not get the game for the lack of appeal (i might be wrong xD, cuz i am kinda laughing at his too), but could be, there some people which don t get this or that for pesky reasons, this and sound been one of them tho not be important.
Hope you not thinking i am raging with you btw, i am cool with your opinion, everyone has theirs i am just talking back and saying mine.

The walls being the "next" update was before weapon crafting was added in, and the reason things went in that order was because the way the walls were interacting with the navmesh demanded a major overhaul of the AI to facilitate their reintegration. Any time Chris is pushing out a larger specific goal, rest assured he is working on longer term issues as well, such as addressing the AI issues that were causing so many problems with relations to walls in the .39 update. The Armor art asset update has been a long time in coming, and is the culmination of nine months of outsourced labor as well as Chris' own work over the last month.
While we'd all love to have walls and the ability to have traders make purchases at our outposts, these things are going to have to wait for the AI work to be done. While that is a large project to tackle, Chris likes to put out noticeable updates that people can use as milestones alongside issues that take longer than anticipated. While walls were the second priority on the recent rough update list, the armor asset update was third and there clearly was something that has once again necessitated a delay.
As for crashes you've been experiencing, that is the sort of thing that we need to see in the bug reports forum. Upload your crash reports, tell us if you can reproduce the issue, and exactly how if you can. These things are absolutely essential to fixing issues, as without a crash dump or threads discussing crashes, there is absolutely nothing to indicate such issues exist. Unfortunately many people who report crashes simply say that they crashed with literally absolutely no information about circumstances, hardware configuration, or an attached crash dump. It's practically impossible to know what occurred when this is the case.

I agree with lilsammy. I would much rather have "playability" with walls, AI harassment, threats, raids and assaults on your base,Crossbows, new bigger world map, layout, varied biomes, and trade, than a customizable character. Not all at once mind you, but that's just me. A character customization update is like putting the cart before the horse, getting all dressed up with nowhere to go

The News has Reached the Steam Forums as well. and everyone is getting butterflies in there tummies. Except for the ones who never read old posts lol.
Personally. long time ago in a far off world back when the commodore was still king i used to do some programming. SO i understand how difficult it would be to get a game like this together. With Chris still basically the only one doing the main part of the game.
With this next update, the game inches forward to the next stage in development. one step closer to the final goal of a finished game.
Personally i wouldn't mind some quests or other type things to add depth to the game. but then again. i do grow tired of looking at a mans ass when i send the squad out running around.
so the next update will be very refreshing . throw some long cloaks out there hehehe.
Any who, keep up the good work Chris and everyone else who is helping get this awesome game off the ground and into my greedy paws.

Do you believe the sexes should be equal?

While i had hoped for a just a little more, to add to the game play... i am happy with this. That art studio put 9 long months into this work, looking forward to using their fruits of their labor. It looks great.
Would have liked to see armor craft now but i can wait, and/or walls again but i'll take what i can get. I am aware things take time before anyone gets on my case for asking this next question.
Why is it months for any updates, another alpha i'm playing has two guys working on the game and they have updates nearly daily. New game content every two weeks, few small bug fixes in between.

And i guess sometimes aso changes from games to games if there is a chance to work fast and release fast and continuasly, or even the creator choices to round up materail and do large updates with time. r you mean updates as news?

Guys, character animation is very important for at least attracting new players. New players - more money, more money - faster updates. Screenshots, videos - that's mainly what gamers pay attention to. Wouldn't it be great, for example, to see different specific animations for different jobs etc.? New fight animation?
Put away your current expectations for nearest updates, just for a minute. Think about what the game needs to be great. Most likely, you will make up a huge list of "what a great game should be". And it is all true. Still, for us, to get this dreamgame, we see in Kenshi, we should wait and support Chris as far as we can. With critics too, of course. All promised by him will be done, I'm sure.
As for me, news about update were shocking - i have been waiting for much less, than i've got. Good animation is vital for every game.

I said something with a small taste of what you just did, but we not talkign animation nor we ll be seing new animatiosn in the new update is just graphical way pretty much, unless you did meant animations as an exemple then sorry
.
But yeah, there sadly some playters which are rather atracted to graphical or some rather sily thing if you wish to say than the mechaniics, and who knows some of this might change their mind once they see some hairs or round shapes.

The next update will be a graphical update! Guyz, cancel the game - someone was unimpressed with this kind of progress so why bother.lilsammy wrote:I logged onto the website as I do every few hours to check for a new update and *SHOCK!* a new post,

Sorry if this seems overtly sarcastic, but this update hasn't even been released yet, and I'm fairly sure that the graphics are not the only thing that have been worked on since the last build. Every update has had bug fixes along with new features.
I like the idea of having distinct-looking characters in my squad. Maybe I'm a huge RPG nerd that way, I don't know, but I'd prefer not to have my squad look like a xerox of every other person in the wastes. I think it adds a little bit of soul to the game, one of those seemingly pointless details that helps to immerse the player in the fictional world.
If you don't care about those seemingly pointless soul-adding details, as others have pointed out, this update will add armor crafting. ARMOR. CRAFTING. Then, to get your squad some awesome armor, you won't need to roam around every armor trader in Kenshi looking for medic plate, you'll simply research it and start cranking it out. That's going to be incredibly helpful when you start having multiple squads of characters. Can you imagine trying to outfit 50 guys with armor simply by buying from the stores?
I understand the desire to see more features now; we all want to see the finished product. But it's a process, and I'm certainly not disappointed with the progress of it so far.

I feel I should point out it says armor crafting is a following update. In this one he said "All clothing and armour is being replaced, and with it all the factions are being overhauled."Eiron wrote:I like the idea of having distinct-looking characters in my squad. "High priority for following updates:
Female characters
Beards
Armour crafting"
So not betting on armour crafting in this one unfortunatly.

I think increasing the amount of customization would be a rather high priority.
I've played around with kenshi for a few months and I find that after finding about 10 to 14 dudes and looted enough gear to arm them I kinda just mob everything in this game atm. After building a town and making high grade weapons I could almost 2 shot anyone.
Think about it... with more customization, it means there is more to do in the game. Also... the idea of 'uniform' rules would help prevent players from just luring bandits into town guards and looting off the losers....
Also... i think everybody is bored with the "larry and bob" models that everybody has been using for ages.

Well, crap. Excuse me while I go cry over my lack of ability to make awesome grungy samurai armor in the next update. *sobs quietly, but not quite quietly enough*Shidan wrote:

Unsure about this, but will there be armour crafting in a sense that we can create the armour ourselves and create our own uniforms? I'd like to be able to outfit my faction, and slowly see my uniform spreading across the world as I rally more people to my banner.
According to the lsat newss update it might have some gender like that, even if not soon, in the future, especially if armors have a small sort of custom, dye or placing a symbol (forgot proper name of it), so that shows "This is my factions uniform.".

Actually, I have a feeling that armor crafting will come pretty soon after the art update. It will be rather simple for Chris because he's already done weapon crafting, and will be able to leverage (reuse) that code from that to assist in armor crafting. I bet most of it will simply be loading in recipes&research and textures/models.
As far as being disappointed? No. I'm not disappointed because this update brings us a step closer to having Nekuman (catgirls) as a playable race in the game. It won't be long now before we see battles and wars occurring between completely different stylized races instead of just guys wearing different colored armor. Soon the Nekuman will take to the battlefield, carving up light armored troops with their natural precision and agility.
But of course, Nekuman aren't just a race of warmongers. Some coexist with humans, living much like they do, taking any job a human might. Some try to fashion clothing in different styles from the average human attire, while some just wear normal Human clothing. Some Nekuman, overly fearful of the Dead Cats' sort of prejudice, hide their ears and tail while living with humans. However, most Nekuman have a tendency to turn 'n' sounds into either 'ny' or 'nyaa', requiring hiding Nekuman to put up a constant effort to correct it.
Others, choose to live separately from humans, despite having descended from humans, and may or may not be hostile to travellers who happen across their settlements/encampments. But at these Nekuman settlements/camps is the best place to see some of the truly Nekuman culture, such as their clothing, cuisine, art, music, and weapons.
Don't you think it'll be refreshing to see such variation in the people and places you come across in your travels?
