Research Bench II can't be built

Hello, I just started playing Kenshi and this game is epic. However I've encountered a bit of a game breaking bug. I've finished researching everything at the first bench. I've tried building the second bench in an empty small house but the game won't let me place it. The error saying that it is too close to other buildings pops up. The silhouette never turns green inside a house, it's always red no matter how much I rotate it and move it around. I can rebuild the first bench no problem, but the second won't place. I've built four small houses now, and spaced two of them far from my town. The error still occurs. Any advice on what I should do? I'll edit this post later and add a screenshot if it helps.

Try to updgrade your lvl1 to a lvl2, that should do, unless is one that isn t upgradable not sure now, other than that you need to buy a larger house to see if is a problemspace, tho that should nt ocur, as a small house is enough for that bench if i am not wrong.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried upgrading the existing bench, it didn't work. The problem isn't isolated to the research bench either. I also can't place a weapons smithing indoors either. It seems that the bigger items are too big for the small house, but I don't have access to any larger housing. The weirdest part is the error message that pops up on screen. It always says that they are too close to a building. Which doesn't make much sense.

That weird, thoughbt it fit, to me it did at least, i think i might had done in a shack as well, but then you gota try look to a large house in a town to buy and atempt there, anyway i guess may be a good idea to upload your save file here may they want to check if is anything wrong in your save.

Is it possible that your units are in the way? You won't be able to place the mesh with them occupying space where an item is to be placed, so you have to stand just inside the door with one unit to reveal the inside of the structure or else they will block your build options in otherwise valid placement locations.

I had this issue too with one of my research benches in the latest version they became very difficult to place in a small house. I eventually got it in (I'll post a screenshot when I get home so you can see how), but I think I have a work around for you.

Try renting out a larger building (left click on door, should be a button in lower left of screen somewhere) in a town and placing your research bench in there. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for all the help guys. Turns out it was exactly what Clawdius said. My guys were in the way My outpost is now up and running, nearly maxed out on research, and bigger than most of the towns haha.

Tolwrath I had no idea you could rent buildings like that, great tip, thanks. Very useful for new starts.
