Whenever you guys implement bows and arrows/crossbows/etc, you should put in a command for coordinated fire. I would love to rain down prickly death upon the Holy Empire's soldiers from a plateau, and it would be infinitely more satisfying if they all fired at once. Also, I think there should be horses. Yeah.

well you know archery is confirmed, also so is tactics. being able to things like this would defiantly be added for archery tactics, even if you had to research it first.reptilezero wrote:Whenever you guys implement bows and arrows/crossbows/etc, you should put in a command for coordinated fire. Horses have been confirmed to NOT be in the game, Mules or small donkeys will be in the game certainly and soon. The only aspect for them is to carry your goods so they are not mounts. You might be able to put an unconscious person on them tho.reptilezero wrote:I think there should be horses. Yeah.

Well if this game is going to claim any kind of realism and it has mules then it better have both horses and donkeys bc mules are sterile and that kind of faulty logic drives me crazy in games. Another I dont get is why inexperienced fighters would pick up a more expensive sword that they would have no idea how to use when they could get a much less expensive spear that would make them equal with above average swordsmen.
I think at current we can argue there isn't a tree in the entire world of kenshi, so where would they be currently getting a spear? Also I think my main guys run almost fast enough to break the sound barrier so i'm not sure realism is the biggest thing in kenshi.

just because its not "REAL" for our world doesnt meant its not "REAL" for Chris's world.rkf006 wrote:Well if this game is going to claim any kind of realism and it has mules then it better have both horses and donkeys bc mules are sterile and that kind of faulty logic drives me crazy in games. Remember that a Game is another world. Unless it says that its based off our world, things like the why, what & how is all turned upside down per the creators (Chris's) desires.
horses might be in the game, but then they might not be horses and you wont be able to ride them.
there are bushes and dead bits of wood, so there is trees kinda. also you can buy supplies that appear to be made of wood.Marilous wrote:there isn't a tree in the entire world of kenshi
Spears might not come into the game yet, but when Chris can get more animations and adds the extra Biomes im sure we will have many differant weapons and more stats to follow.

You gota remember that trees are an aesthetical thing for now, so they not added yet, you don t see lot of materials yet they there as well, don t rememebr see cooper mines for the generators exemple xD.
But skipping that, pack mule is a name, doesn t mean is leteral mules, a pack mule can even be a human, which at the moment, it s what pack mules are, that poor member which carries everything...
And i don t think that an noobie with a spear would be as good with a swordsman above average, a swordsman of that level should already be good enough to easilly predict the forward movement of the spear, and fast enough to get close enough to render it useless.
Also gota remmeber this ^^. Might be based of the real world but in the end is a different world where Chris dictates his word and rules.islesofurth wrote:just because its not "REAL" for our world doesnt meant its not "REAL" for Chris's world.

When i was younger i did fencing and later joined a medieval re-enactment group, The first things you learn with swordplay is how to block and parry (defence first).hbrown wrote:And i don t think that an noobie with a spear would be as good with a swordsman above average, a swordsman of that level should already be good enough to easilly predict the forward movement of the spear, and fast enough to get close enough to render it useless.
So a spear would have great difficulty against a sword because a thrust is so easy to parry and has many parry options. An axe on the other hand would have a much easier time against a sword because it is very hard to parry the force behind an axe and requires alot of skill. All you can really do is block but thats bad for your sword, so really you just gotta MOVEURASS.
Its rather ironic to since most of the games i have played with such weapons have always had it the opposite way around, i guess they didnt put much thought into it.

Didn t knew that but is easy to know about the spear after all i saw/played, swordsman had advantage on spearman, + the spear line of attack is forward, even if you use as a staff isn t so eficient, and a sword cna wreck it i guess, about the axe had that slight idea, bocking it might chip the sword, rather dodge and let him burry to the ground, if he going on a high swing and not sideways xD.islesofurth wrote:When i was younger i did fencing and later joined a medieval re-enactment group, The first things you learn with swordplay is how to block and parry (defence first).hbrown wrote:And i don t think that an noobie with a spear would be as good with a swordsman above average, a swordsman of that level should already be good enough to easilly predict the forward movement of the spear, and fast enough to get close enough to render it useless.

An axe is a hammer with a blade.....powerful blows that can cut into or crush armor, but horrible recovery times and in order to maximize their force they can really only cut 2 ways, making them predictable. Swords are more general purpose able to cut from 2 directions but also stab and can quickly transition between attack and defense and recovery, aside from specific designs that are focused on one thing. Spears are used mostly for vs cavalry and because they're stupidly cheap and easy to make and don't require much skill (the primary reason they're used, since they're the most common weapon of the militia....being effective vs cavalry was just a bonus)...just work in a formation and the enemy can't get in close.

Horses have been denied... I am problably repeating everyone in here. BUT I like coordinated fire. It sounds awesome.
