While the display of the remaining duration doesn't go into negative values any more there's still something wrong. I'm currently researching Weapon Smithing 13. My guy has a science skill of 94 thus according to the display he should research 2.9 times as fast. Since the values of the duration won't change if I make some dumb guy research I'm assuming the science skill isn't already taken into account when calculating the remaining time. While I am pretty sure that in early tech stages the research indeed was done quicker I now noticed it actually took more than a game day for the remaining time to go down from 72 to 62 hours. Now 14 hours later it only has decreased to 57 hours. So instead of being 2.9 times faster it's closer to being that times slower.

Some further testing: It took 6 and a half hour from the moment it went to 56 hours until it changed to 55 hours with a guy who started with science skill 0.84x and ended up with 1.2x, so who in average should have been close to what I assume was meant to be the reference value.

Just in case it might matter: It's a research bench VI (btw the benches are missing an "r", they're labeled "Reseach Bench").

At least it's going down and it's finishing but it takes way longer than displayed.

So from what I'm gathering, it automatically adjusts the research time to match the research rate of your fastest researcher? Are you using multiple research benches and have you tried (save before this) getting your best science guy killed? I'd be interested to know of the time estimate changes when he dies.

Seems I wasn't clear on that: The shown estimated time never changes no matter who of my guys is doing the research. When I let my dumb guy do the research he improved considerably but it also didn't have any effect on the time. If it matters: I've got exactly one research bench.

I initially thought that the skill bonus you get (like Science 2.9x for a science skill level of 95) would make your scientist progress 2.9x quicker than someone with 1.0x (which should be around science level 30 I think) and that the estimated time of completion would relate to the latter one - well, who wouldn't? Turns out my almost 3 times as good researcher is only about 2 times as fast and I have absolutely no idea how the estimated time is calculated since it doesn't even come close to the actual time needed.
