It is made from yeast extract. ie. the gubky crap left over after you brew beer.

The native american peoples used to kill bison and other animals. They would use every part of the bison in all sorts of ways. They would take the fur and make clothes; take the horns and make cups and weapon points; and take the meat as food. Part of their core values and culture to no waste things.

I am Australian. When we make beer we use every part of the beer. We take the crown and give that a higher price; we take the middle and give that a lower price; we take the crap and send that overseas; and we take the gunk from the bottom and eat it. Our core values, waste not your beer for beer is sacred.

Marmite is for peasants. Vegemite cheesybite is an affront to bein' Austrayan' (technical term for us)
Vegemite is in fact delicious with cheese, or if you are too lazy to buy/cut slices of it, cheese spread can be substituted. Also good with jam (sounds weird, but try it and you'll like it)

Lol speaking of beer, just finished brewing a batch, gonna bottle it today :D

Since this now appears to be the vegemite thread I figured I'd offer another use for it.

It works incredibly well as a kind of beef stock in something like a spaghetti Bolognais. Just a single teaspoon of the stuff gives it a great flavour. I will admit I was a sceptic until I tried it. Wonderful stuff.
