Howdy, been ages since I last actually came in these forums.

I don't know where else I could post this topic, but I admittedly hadn't played Kenshi for quite some time. I think the last time was all the way back in April, I think just after the 0.42 update, which added mining and sword-crafting (maybe even 0.42.2, before the art assets were put in). Since then, summer kinda happened and now school's just about to really pick up, making gaming impossible. But Kenshi's always been there on my Steam library, just staring back at me and, every now and then, getting back into my mind.

Well today, I finally played it, with the most recent update - 0.47 - and there's only one thing I can say:

Holy Christ on a pancake, things just got SO much better since then!

I think the best improvement out of everything has to be the fact that the game runs much more smoothly than before; it was choppier prior to whenever Chris improved the processing or whatever made smoother gameplay possible. Art is a given; everything simply looks a lot better to look at, and the character models look a lot more, in a way, natural than before (especially when you get into the crazier customization; some of you will probably remember). A lot of the new weapon and especially armour assets look insanely well-crafted, which is bounds and leaps beyond whatever green armour I strapped onto my characters.

I've yet to really get into the newer features of the game, but already having the assign permanent jobs feature sounds like a heaven-sent for settlement management. Being able to craft medkits is also incredibly useful, saving loads of money for, well, who knows what (weapon-smithing, medicine-crafting and farming alone sound like all you need for self-sustainment).

If there was anything I could complain about, it would probably just be limited to armour and clothes feeling like they're suddenly a lot more expensive than before (or maybe my memory isn't as good as I thought). Perhaps having a few lower-quality things in the store would be pretty nice for the players who just start off.

On the whole, though, I'm loving everything new about this game and can't wait for even more!

Iknowright!?

Next few updates are going to be humdingers as well. More character customisation (translated: the ladies) and music!!! ...and water...and shrubberies (I think Vurt is busting hump in that area as we speak) ...and ...and ...STUFFnTHINGS!

*happy dance*

(Did I mention walls kinda work now? You didn't, thought I better, important stuff that... and the optimization? Looks like he just tweaked what sort of tasks are always calculating and mob persistance a bit as far as noticable gameworld stuff, he hasn't even played the mulithreading card yet AFAIK.)

Look close at your new gear selections, there's a couple more combat dynamics in there, weapon speed and athletics mods. Variable quality gear, just soak-wise so far but I did clobber a jounin today that had what I thought was an unusually sharp katana for it's tier... buuut I might have just had a FOSSIL in my eye... seen those? Makes one wonder what's going to be wandering around out there before long no? Anyhoo, glad to know I wasn't the only one rocked after a hiatus. Welcome back.

Already loving how utterly brutal the "Holy Sword" starting mode is...though after about a month of game time (and a few deaths at the hands of two converging imperial Lords and a Holy Order squad...it was NOT pretty :(...), I don't have to worry about armor anymore. Some members of the Holy Order were nice enough to "donate" their armor and weapons to my cause...especially after running afoul of the police and guards in Catan.

They don't like them much anymore... :D

Those Holy guys... such charitable blokes. *sigh* Now there's a Paladin we can look up to.

Or... down to, as it were.

I still have the 0.22 installer on my pc, I tried it out for the fun. The difference is really striking.
