Maybe there could be horses, but they can be expensive and rare. There could be different breeds slow-fast, maybe you could breed horses in a stable. Saddles could improve mount-foot or mount-mount combat, lances would be good for mounts along with interchangeable saddlebags of course you have to buy or find them and finding them could be hard like sand ninja jounin finding hard. Now for pets, lets start with something simple like a dog, German shepherd maybe, it could guard or patrol or just roam the boundaries of a compound. You could buy a pet but you'd be better off finding them and helping them, it could gain you more 'trust' and\or 'loyalty' which could make them fight more fiercely for your protection, same thing goes to your men and soon to be women.
