So lots of fan communities come up with ways to play a game that they consider hardcore mode. Usually rules like "no stimpacks" or "no using the vita chamber, restart the level instead".

So what do you think such rules would be for Kenshi? Granted, not all of the game mechanics are in yet.

I think my options would be:
1. Never split the squad
2. People carrying bandages are not allowed to fight in melee (blocks only)
3. You can only lure enemies to city guards when you have less than 4 people.
4. No save scumming, auto and exit saves only

Kenshi is pretty good already about not giving you much for free. I think when limb removal is added you will start to see the game differentiate between 'hard' and 'soft' core through a toggle concerning this option. Having your men immediately and potentially permanently incapacitated....(not to mention decapitated), will change it a great, great deal.

5. No backpack swapping!! It has to be equipped if it's with you, even in combat.

6. (Once the game becomes a little more stable) Only save on exit
7. Only build structures where they make sense (Mines in the mountains, farms in lowland areas, etc), with caravans taking supplies where they need to go.
8. Dedicated guards for my town, who do nothing but guard. Everyone else is on block only.

9: damage to relations with other factions increased and good actions will be forgotten after some time (the quantity of time is dependant on the action made)

I've been playing as a one man army and I really fear bandits as i'm not very well trained, you don't have to (kenshi is designed for squads) but playing as a single character with no back up can make fights a lot more intense because if you pass out you cant exactly get healed up.

I not sure but i don´t see how not separating the squad makes harder, only to keep them together, because that would make the fight side easier.

Some ideas i had tho i guess not that good :S.
Only medic designed characters can use medikits or something like that( maybe something like that can be done with other jobs too like science)
Characters cna only use one weapon type, or specialize, exemple a weapon which reaches lvl5 first, a type of let´s say sabers, will be the only to keep up, all others ill cap at 5.
No pause help menu, like covering the screen so doesn´t allow "cheat" xD. (Tho that i would prefer even in regula, i hate myself for using it tho i say this :I.

I'd like slider options adjusting say the value to hit for limb destruction, bleeding rate and the blood value at which death occurs for both the player characters and NPCs. This allows for customisable hardcore mode.

I was just talking about rules that the players follow to make the game harder. If you want an actual change to the game, then you should post on the Feature Request board (after searching for similar topics). What you just mentioned could also double as a "parental lock" mode like what old games such as Duke Nukem 3D used to have.

Never splitting the squad can make the early game much harder, in that you can't have one person run away only to come back and heal everyone else later. As for late game, I'm not so sure it works, because it would mean leaving your base undefended every time you go out adventuring. So perhaps a better rule would be:
1. The adventuring squad/trade squad must always stick together when outside the base.
1.5. The adventuring squad/trade squad (not to be confused with war party) is limited to a maximum of 8 people (unless you don't have a base yet).

True hardcore mode: No using medkits

Slightly less hardcore but still hardcore: no medkits allowed on anyone who is downed. If they get back up due to stun/previous bandage or blood recovery lucky them.

Problem then, no medkits no healing, meaning you would have to be constantly hiring thugs  , tho should be interesting, and make people open their wallets for new members, or make time to train them nad attach and want them to live.

The player can set equal values for teammates and foes to be "fair" or set smaller absolute values for enemies than the player characters to have the heroes' edge. It'd be easy to adjust the deadliness and gore of combat this way.

Limb destruction is planned when a certain -ve value is reached, but what about decapitations and spilling guts when hitting certain -ve head and stomach values? This results in a more visual dramatic instakill by skilled fighters than a collapse and rapid bleedout.

odd. its not really a feature request, and this thread seems more like a non-suggestion player challenge thread.

See Tolwrath wanted me to post about the slider options I wanted in the feature request section. I did that and my post got moved back to this thread.

hardcore rules are like this max people in party 6 no more makes having abase really hard one healer that means one guy med pack only one guy with a backpack the rest cant loot to top it off you can only starts as the wander for less hardcore or as the rock bottom for really hard core play can only buy gear cant make it and the kicker everyone but your main is light armour only witch means pick your battles no city guard after your attack and defence is over 25 or the first one to hit 30 after this only the healer and the trader of you party may enter citys  good luck

Well, i don't really have many ideas, unlike these guys (compliment, that means you guys have more ideas than me).
Anyway:
1. If one of your squad falls into unconsciousness, end the game (AKA sudden death)
2. Try not to "bait" enemies too much, if you want their loot, kill them yourself.
