WARNING: THIS IS THE COLLECTION OF MULTIPLE IDEAS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT ABOVE, NOT SOMEONE WHO INVENTED ALL THIS. PLEASE CONSIDER WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY

Ok this has been discussed many times, but I don't remember seeing it on the suggestion list, so here it goes. Animals can vary: deers, wolves, *CENSORED*, cougars, pumas, lions, horses, pigs, cows, ducks, birds, rhinos, canines and felines like dogs and cats, tigers, did I mentioned wolves, snakes, scorpions, spiders and so on. However, all we need is their USE. They as you know will not be mountable. But is it only that? We need more. We could use them for husbandry (animal farming), to help in cultivation, war, hunting, guarding, patrolling, tracking and guiding. But is that all? What if it was a chameleon-like animal that was wolf-like and was not-so-fast but wold be fast when atacking you and wold surprise you quite well? Or an animal that can steal your food or has a very good perception and hunts smaller animals and flies like the eagles, or it can be a rabit but be rather better at hiding than hearing or it can be a elephant or rhino that will walk VERY slowly but has a deadly charge that makes a huge knockback (not REALLY huge though) and when it puts you in it's mouth, it littelary CRUSHES your entire skeleton? Kenshi is trying to reproduce life, except in an ACTUALLY realistic steampunk-style and a hybrid of X-COM and Dragon Age, with a slash of stronghold? You remember men of war, right? What if we got their system too? Cover can be as used as the one of that game. Ever heard and have seen Half Life 2: Wars? It's a mod, and it has a very detailed cover and floor system (especially the floor system). In the HUD, there are arrows that allow you to circulate between up to now 3 floors: ground, 1st and 2nd. What if we incorporated that too? It wold be quite cool.

 There is so much in your post, -_- Much I don't have clue what you are talking about. But I guess I kind of agree with something in it. I get disappointed every time I hear about Kenshi not having mounts or wild life.

Sounds a little like feature creep. Still, animals would be nice. No idea about your animal suggestions though, they sound very...different.

and and or and or or and and or and or and

Interesting ideas, but I don't really think any of it after the first listed animals would be remotely necessary

Now Every desert needs a mountain lion. Or said like animal. Perhaps a sabertooth. Something you will fear if you see. Perhaps the only way to deter it is distract it with A ) meat, B) tame it in the future. or C) run near bandits which will attack it. You get away. "Whew.." safe.

Mountain lions in a desert would be interesting if you also added free running. These animals already would be good if you had added creatures into the mix. So Free running becomes all the more important to get away.

I AM SICK OF MODERATORS! This is talking about the dynamics of a single animal. Perhaps a FICTIONAL ANIMAL LIKE A MOUNTAIN LION. The point of this one animal is that it doesn't give up chasing you unlike other NPCs for a longer time. Check your info.

I'm not a moderator  Also, there's no need to start using caps. I'm just thinking that if you want to talk about animals or predators of any kind you should post on a topic regarding animals.

Our ideas are usually already posted and once and a while we add to them, or comment on others to maybe tweak the idea some what. or offer hints or tips and the like. Your ideas aren't bad but the problem is most are repeats of other posts/ideas already. Posting about a single animal does not warrant making a new thread to talk about it.
post it in the links Santaissick provided above.

Kenshi is realistic game. It will be impossible to survive in the mountain zone if you are a lion - not enough air, food, water.

But they may survive if they are japanese lions, like animals from monster hunter :D
However monster hunter isnt realistic.

The mods 'aint harassing you mate they are simply asking for you to use the search not to be a pain in the arse but to make finding suggestions easier for Chris (the great) it also gets irritating seeing the same requests often e.g guns, donkeys, trains etc.
If your new I understand the confusion but you will get used to it :D

How about packs of wild moderators?

Good idea; I'd like to see some critters now and then too. Post that up on the right thread and lets get it done.

Ok, what "realistic" world do you live in, cause in my world Mountain Lions did, in fact, survive quite well in mountain zones. The lack of mountain lions in the modern world is not due to the fact they couldn't survive, it's due solely to humans. We hunted them mircilesly for centuries, why?
FEAR.
Remove firearms and other modern technology as well as the sheer number of humans and plenty of natural animals, such as mountain lions, are plenty dangerous enough, there is no need to go to mythical or imaginary mutant type creatures.
Even in the modern world, animals can be more then a little dangerous, google wolf attacks in Russia for an idea just how dangerous real world animals can be. In the past, entire towns have been wiped out by these beasts, not dragons or mutant fantasy animals, REAL animals.
We take so much for granted as humans because we are the top of the food chain now, but it was a long hard fight for our ancestors to get there, and they did not achieve it because our competition was not capable of surviving or because they were not dangerous.

By the way, Mountain Lions (also known as Cougar) and normal "Lions" are two entirely different animals. You are correct that normal lions could not survive in the mountains, that's why they don't live there, but mountain lions are a different matter entirely.

I think Xen has misunderstood mate if I am correct English aint his first language (Russian is?)
I think he has read it as "lions" as in lions from Africa and Asia from the lowland plains being shoved up the top of a mountain, when learning foreign languages (in my case) I learn the alternate word i.e rather than learning "mountain lion" I would learn the word "cougar" to make life easier.
This is a fairly easy mistake to make if you are unfamiliar with alternate words he probably has misunderstood for lowland lions what would die fairly soon (as stated) due to alien conditions.

The whole rant about the realistic world and how we should be appreciating the danger of the natural world was quite unnecessary as it is fairly obvious a mountain lion could kill a human and nobody really doubts this especially when minor predatory (this case omnivorous) animals like foxes sometimes attack us in our own homes (rarely granted but so is the case of wolves wiping out Russian villages).
Also cougars were not hunted for fear primarily as I don't doubt that a bit of cash could be made from one. The rant was quite irrelevant just saying pal.

As a foreigner i did not learn none, but i always thought cougars and mountain lions were actually different species.

But isn´t this thread going off-topic now? And me helping it xD.

We know animals will be in just gotta know which, i guess Chris might have them already in his plans, might as well join a single post with all the requests and who created the post (or a mod) could edit the post to keep in the OP the list of the suggestions, maybe even as a poll to see which ones you agree to be in.

Yes EvilTea, I did come to that conclusion regarding language after the initial post, which is why I added the end paragraph. The rest of the post is in regard to a great deal of posts about mutant type or fantasy type creatures, including the post in this thread by Xen with his comparison to monster hunter. I was simply pointing out that such measures are entirely unnecessary with regards to dangerous non human encounters.
Fear, for ourselves and, perhaps more so, for our livestock, was the primary motivation to our hunting large predators to near extinction, most especially mountain lions and wolves.

"Hunters hunt, because they FEAR their prey." -gotta wright it down somewhere.
And yes, Xen sounds russian, just like me :)

Mountain lions (as in puma, cougar, and catamount) wouldn't survive in current Kenshi mountain biomes we can see, because of lack of prey. No grass, close to no trees = no place to live for mountain lion's food (goats, deers, raccoons, etc herbivorous). That's what Xen meant, i believe.

I don´t think you should say a animal can survive or can´t because currently there is no prey, for that case i believe no one would, maybe some dromedaries or camels and not s, in this case as you doing "What if there was mountain lions", you should do as well together, "What if there were other animals as well", if mountain lions were there in the first place, that would mean indeed they had prey, even if humans.

Some ifs need to be followed by other ifs.

[quote="Crador"]"Hunters hunt, because they FEAR their prey." -gotta wright it down somewhere.[quote]
That is taken out of content, and obviously dose not apply to the majority of situations. Large predators are however mostly hunted out of fear. Why do we hunt down and kill rouge bears or any other animal that has been known to attack humans? But basically, yes, we will do everything we can to kill what we fear, it is human nature, actually it's nature nature, fight or flight. If you fear something you will try to kill it or run from it.
