Lately, while I've been running around the desert, although it looks great at a distance, it would be cool to have things like big dust clouds kicked up by patrols. And footprints! I think I've already seen that suggested somewhere though.
I think it would be cool if while in the desert, characters in combat would be able to throw sand in their opponent's eyes. How cool would that be?!?!?
When viewing the ground up close, maybe the sand could be modelled something like the sand in Journey? I guess that could be pretty taxing if a whole bunch of characters where walking around one area. I saw a post on a forum from one of the devs explaining how they did the sand, I might try to track it down- it was pretty interesting.
EDIT: Here's the forum post: http://www.thatgamecompany.com/forum/vi ... hp?p=11191
Cool sandy shizz
Enhancing the deserts effects and adding terrain specific combat moves sounds pretty cool, but keep in mind that there will eventually be other biomes. It'd be a little weird if deserts have more stuff going on than rivers, swamps, plains, etc.

I think weather will be implemented later. Probably after the multi threading update. I would like to see more terrain interaction, like deadly sandpits, edible foliage, and getting water from cacti.
