Hey, guys. I purchased Kenshi from Steam about a week ago. I've had my eyes on it for some time actually from Steam greenlight program but made the purchase only a week ago.
Allow me to express my experience with the game so far.
I've spent about 20 hours into the game total. I started out as a wanderer setting as a female character. (Jesus, it's hard to distinguish males from females.) I spent an hour or so trying to learn the game and how to survive.
Quickly realizing that I would get nowhere with just one character, I hired my 2nd one with the 1000 cat I started out with and started to lure enemies to city guards for loot and tiny bits of combat experiences. I did so for few hours where I earned around 20.000 cat and my group grew to 5 members.
Reading up the wiki about constructions, I eventually set up my outpost.
( I will upload pictures when I get home. I am @ work atm.)
And spent hours manufacturing building materials. Got attacked by dust bandits numerous times where I simply fled and came back later. My research level has just gone to level 3 now.
Here are my takes on the game so far.
The game is pretty buggy.
1. Shops often don't have money in them and the game has to be reloaded to fix it.
2. Sometimes, town NPCs would line up outside of their town. I have to reload the game to fix it.
3. The game needs more preset faces and more hair styles.
4. Random crashes.
What I would like to see in near future.
1. An ability to dismiss members or an ability to import selected squad members
2. Looting should decrease one's relationship with a faction. Ex. If I loot a mercenary unit member, I should lose a small relationship with that faction.
3. So far, wall and its gate are pointless in my eyes. It was only a matter of time bandits made through. There should be an option for negotiation if an attacking force takes too long to take down a gate.
What I would like to see in a distant future.
1. An ability to run a pub/inn where platoon members would enjoy drinks with a chance for bar fight.
2. I can see the general theme of this game is loosely based on the Japanese culture, so why not implementing the clan structure?
I probably had more in my mind when I started this thread but I can't recall anything anymore at this point.
Anyway, good luck with the game, dev.
Hello, new to Kenshi.
Shops not having money is an intended design. The shops are not supposed to have infinite amounts of money for you to sell to them; they run out eventually, as an actual shop would. They reset after a day or two. This encourages you to explore and visit other towns if you have too many trade goods.
Huh... my game must be bugged then. All I have to do is close the trade and talk to a shop keeper again and they have another 20k cats lined up for me to row through. I normally will run supplies from a nearby town to my base multiple times and on each trip stock up on an item that sells well at the next town down. Once I have 5-6 traders backpacks full i will toss backpacks within backpacks within backpacks on my mule character (tons of athletics and strength) and run it out to trade. Sell it all off in the aforementioned manner sell, close trade, open sell again, etc etc...
I love my mule though... each trip his strength goes up more one way and unloaded on the way back he gains athletics... he is around 70 str and pushing 80 athletics now. completely unburdened wearing full heavy plate and carrying an inventory and backpack full of random weapons and heavy junk... i have to weigh him down when making mass troop movements so he does leave everyone else in the dust. Everyone else having 70ish athletics and maybe 10-20 str.
Anywho, sorry for rambling. I like the structuring of your post.

Hello, shops have 20000 cats. In my cases, they have zero. Loading has been the only way to correct this. I don't expect shops to have unlimited money but zero is a little too little ...Argus wrote:Shops not having money is an intended design. Most likly you went to an empty sop counter, those have nothing and no money, or sometimes counters have objects, but no people running, so they have "no money", try to speak directly with traders to be sure, if they also don´t have is a bug for sure.
And the traders money does not keep, is currently bugged, you might ever sell stuff to him, but everytime you back he will have the same 20000, i say bugged but i guess proper word is imcomplete, like with the wall defenses at the moment.
