As I've seen in game there will be a climbing mechanic in the near future so i'm also hoping you might be able to add objects such as ladders or small staircases that you could form to a wall or tall object (guard towers perhaps?). In many cities you see NPC's running around in emergency mode and i can see some major issues once ranged combat is added pertaining to not being able to get onto the walls in the first place. but if you added ladders or staircases in easy to reach areas it would allow for much more efficient defensive combat; where your town guard are not simply standing next to the wall and are in fact on top shooting the filthy bandits before they even have a chance to get close.
Thanks for reading! love the game!

There are currently ladders on Outpost style buildings, along with an upper ledge, I imagine that when the climbing skill is implemented those will be interactive. Siege ladders are another potential item, so it seems reasonable that either before or concurrent with the ability of enemies to siege your outpost, or perhaps after the introduction of ranged weaponry, the climbing skill will be introduced as well as ladders. Grappling hooks and other such tools may be available, but I certainly can't promise anything as I am just a moderator.
Well it would certainly add a layer of dynamics that i for one would enjoy. Also having guard towers in surrounding areas of your outpost would be very cool in my opinion; lets hope we get the chance to see them! I also hope climbing might work on cliff faces themselves as i have an outpost i plan on turning into a rather large town if there ever comes the ability to do so; and if sand ninjas could climb up the large cliff on the side of my outpost past my walls that would be really cool in terms of keeping it challenging.
Another thing to think about is simply two story buildings for more interior space. Then on things like outposts or the Large house we could actually use that second floor, maybe even the roof (which normal buildings all have hatches on) to place some objects.
