I know this has been mentioned before, but this (in my opinion) is a little different.
I love how the game keeps track of the days in the game, and I started wondering: what about having a journal that kept track of the days and allowed you to upload it to the forums? You could create stories upon stories through these entries, and the experience for those who enjoy roleplaying would just multiply. You could even make it as though multiple people were writing in their own journals by adjusting the font type and such or if they devs wanted to (if the idea were popular enough) they could make journals for each character and have it sit in their inventory, or make a slot for the journal. This would open up little missions to go hunting for some scientist's journal as it had all his research in it.
Just an idea though. I have an example I made but I'm not sure of where to upload it, an ideas to that would be great.
A Journal
It would be really cool if this journal automatically recorded text when certain events occur.
This text could be randomly picked from a .txt files of pre-determined phrases for things like "<Faction Name> want to tear down our walls again!" corresponding to an Assault, or some other such nonsense.

I would never be able to go to sleep at night after a session without going back and reading whatever was generated. That would be superb!PnzrNorm wrote:It would be really cool if this journal automatically recorded text when certain events occur.

Thinking about it a bit more, this could also be super helpful for anyone attempting my "Perpetual Kenshi" play rules. I mean if you come back and see half your team is dead, you're gonna want to know who to wage war against. And, if families get implemented, it'd track births and other important events.
Which I am ultimately thoroughly thankful for..PnzrNorm wrote:Families, birth, old age, etc. have all be confirmed will NOT be added.Tolwrath wrote:And, if families get implemented, it'd track births and other important events.
In a roleplay world, id rather my character's not change from who they are. I don't want them dying of old age, or two of my character having a baby when they really wouldn't. If there was anything that could be considered game-breaking for me, that is probably one of the worst things i could imagine.
I find that adding families would add another dynamic to a few parts of Kenshi (combat modifiers and diplomacy to name a couple), but I feel it would be more relevant in a strategy game rather than an RPG.
Birth, and death by natural causes, could potentially destroy a char, and as fun as this sounds, it would also require months of work in order to add an 'age layer' to every char throughout the game, to add the process required to have a birth, to make 3D models dynamically change over a long period of time, etc.
