Let's face it: we need them. Castles: nothing about them. Forts: quite a little, I am basing off them. Castles are where the lords and nobles reside. They are also used to show your power and to increase defence, since it's a pretty good place to garrisson. Castles are mostly for that, and since our outposts are normally town centers or town halls, I've decided that they are not the same. They may also have one or two regiments defending it, since it's a rather important building.
Now let's get down to forts: they are just millitary outposts, except they are there to organize your armies. It's like where recently trained troops go to when they need to be called for war or to mantain order. They normally have barracs, an armory, some barrack buildings, a wharehouse to store food and construction materials for maintenance and repair purposes and a building from where the entire for is managed. Now you may think that armies should be in towns. They shouldn't actually. If they stay, it may make it look like there's a constant danger hanging around and that people should stay locked in their houses all the time. Also, forts grant the millitary more space and therefore they can have more equipment, won't take resources from your town for their upkeep and they can also organize better without interfering with the daily life of the citizens. Forts are also usefull if you want to hold a strategic position instead of building a town and wasting more resources.
Hence ends my proposition, hope you like it.
Castles 'n' forts.

A nice idea, I beleave that once the full game comes out, "large factions" will be avalable, this could be a good addition to the idea of "factions"

There is actually a badass fort in the game. It's not not buildable yet.
But i'd like it if it were... alot bigger. o.o

You can make your own fort with Defensive Walls right now.Morthranduil wrote:There is actually a badass fort in the game. It's not not buildable yet.

Not to mention these are just level 2 walls, there will eventually be level 3-5 and turreted towers.

If you go on edit mode.. the Ctrl+shift+F12 one.. (if my memory serves me well)
You will find a badass fortress that you can build. But when i tried to build it, it just disappeared. Not buildable i guess. :I

Yes i have seen it.PnzrNorm wrote:But... have you SEEN the concept/3D art of the turetted towers??
Dozens of those things along the walls will be better than any single fortress structure (excluding Minas Tirith).
Building those on/around the walls in a Helm's Deep shaped fortress would make the ultimate safe haven.
P.S. Minas Tirith <3

A most awesome Idea I think
being able to build a castle/fort/palace adjacent to my village/town would be nice
now I am thinking about being a sub-faction to someone (like a land-lord or something) and being called to war, you and a detachment of your men are guided to a fort on the border and become a part of the standing army, clashing alongside your allies in glorious, deadly battles!

So I got to thinking lately..
Since the latest wall additions allow more seamless construction, and dynamically add curved connections between segments where necessary, perhaps we could build more compact castles/structures (like Minas Tirith) should rope bridges be added?
Think about this example:

Think about this example:
- Current Outpost S-III in the center (or some equally as impressive structure for your keep)
Surrounded by 4 walls with towers at each corner and a gate leaving JUST enough room for smithy structures and armoury storage (oooh! what about adding interior hallways to the larger walls?
)
Surrounding the keep's walls and towers.. are more walls and towers, but there will be rope bridges connecting the 2 rings, likely from inner ring towers to outer ring walls/towers (with hallways inside walls, there must be hallways inside towers as well!)
And expand with as many rings as you'd like
