Bad first impressions

So, after wrestling with the Humble page to redeem my key, I think I finally managed to get all of it on my sixteenth attempt.

Not a good way to start out here, especially when I come to the forums wondering why my (partial) keys get horked up by both steam and the standalone (which also asks for a username I was -never- issued) and the only real dev response amounts to "oh I use really long keys lol".

Now this might be a strange idea, but how about... maybe... issuing keys of a SANE length? Or do you just not care so long as you get our money? Or are you that paranoid?

Good to read. sorry it took you that many tires. The Devs will have to have a look into that and see what's causing the issue's you had.

the one asking for the name shouldn't still be in use. since that version came out in 2011 and was only used for the first 66 buyers. Something else the Devs will look into im sure so as to make sure this doesnt happen again.

Kenshi wouldn't be the only game to use long keycodes, there are many out there that still do this.
Paradox is known to use long key codes. EA is another one that loves to use long keycodes.
and a many other companies still do as well. its been a staple of gaming since it first started using key codes instead of code wheels.

Against the off-chance that I am not the only person who finds this thread in search of a solution to the problem mentioned, I will note what I did, as I didn't find it entirely obvious (& hope that doesn't just mean I'm "a little slow"):

• Right-click & "Select All" to select the entire Humble Bundle page with the key on it.
• Copy & Paste into Notepad (or whatever).
• Find the line that has the key on it, the entirety of which should now be visible.
• Copy & Paste key to where you need it.

I still have to ask, what's the legitimacy of using -eleven- sets of "xxxxx" sequences instead of the five sets that Humble and Steam won't choke on? I mean, really. 808 undecillion possible key combinations is not enough?

Hi foilhat, I'm really sorry you've had such difficulty so far. Did you get it working on your last attempt? And - just to clarify - what happened with your key exactly? So you mean the Humble page cut off part of it? How did you redeem it in the end?

Sorry you feel that way. We didn't have any advice on here for this because it's actually the first we've heard of it - I wasn't aware of any problems with Humble until now. Hopefully we can work on preventing this now though, thank you.

(Sorry, I don't know the answer to why the keys are as long as they are. I'll leave that for someone else to answer...)

I would also be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem.

Yes, using the method that JAFA mentioned. The text field is way too short on the humble page for such a long key, when you click "Redeem Key" only part of the key is visible, followed by "..."

The only way to get the entire thing is to select the entire page and extract it that way.
