Moving my ranting to this thread, no new content
Slow progress and lots of bugs.
The main bug in the HAVOC library isn't fixed yet and Lo Fi is not in control of that, it is at Havocs will to fix it.
terrain still buggy, memory leaks, path finding horrible, animals stuck in my walls, rocks, and mountains.
This game in my opinion, will never be fixed and ready.
Missing a roadmap, with set dates we can expect to be at certain points in development, as a date it is officially released as finished product.
Not % complete bars, but an actual date roadmap.
Due to the slow progress it looks more like a money scheme, as did many indie developers did in the past, keep it alive and run with the money or put the earned money in the next project.
I hope not, but I lost confidence in the bug fixing and the delivery of the product.
Potential nice game setting, but I am afraid the thing will never finish.
And I am not alone in this, many reviews to be found with the same statements.
Unhappy customer.

Not really rants, but . . .
I've played through to the point where there isn't much more to do, so I'm patiently waiting for the next patch/version. That's good and bad, Kenshi has a lot of potential but it does seem progress is slow. I don't agree with the comments that its a money scheme or think you guys just sit around smoking pot and wasting time while the cash rolls in, but it does seem slow sometimes. (I know, its complex stuff and you want to get it right, I just hope to see more progress.
My biggest concern is the community, here and at Steam. There's a fairly rabid crowd that IMO can be unfriendly toward any criticism. Again, its good and bad, because I've seen lots of helpful replies and comments, but some folks take things way too seriously.
This rant thread is a good thing, provides a place for people to vent and you can round up all the troublemakers!
Again, in case I haven't been clear, great game, hope to see it fully released sooner than later

Thanks ichi, yeah I understand. There's a lot of stuff some of the guys have been working on for a long time but we've not been able to release yet - i.e. Oli's world map which he's been working on for the last year or so - this will all be added in a kind of super-update within the next six months.ichi wrote:That's good and bad, Kenshi has a lot of potential but it does seem progress is slow. So hopefully the next few content updates will make up for the wait so far
I don't mean to digress too much from the topic, but I wanted to express that I feel the idea of kenshi as a money scam seems absurd to me.
I have seen so few games that have received so much love and passion from the developers. Why would a developer abandon a project that is so much more than a game; it is an investment of time effort and devotion that is aperent within the first few hours of play.
I can see kenshi may not be perfect but the dev's preserverance through such a challenging concept show us they are not in it for the cash or even a career, they want to see this dream become a reality.

The inablity to have easy access to some of the meshes and animaitons due to Ogre3D. That was not a complete sentence.

Nothing to rant at. I just felt like popping in and dropping a casual word of feedback.
I appreciate that in the last year kenshi has become much more open about the game developments. Back in the day, getting any information was like pulling hens teeth; I dare say I may have felt much the same as ironfist does in all his impotent rage.
However I do appreciate the more open nature of the update schedule lately. It is one of the most important things and more feedback and information is generally the better.

Updates are nice, but can be far apart, leading to people getting the idea that the development is very very slow... At least, it tends to look that way until the update gets out, and then we're wow'd with the amount of stuff done (even though we don't notice half of the effort that gets put into making the game).
Actually don't have much to rant on, especially after seeing Under the Ocean fail and Towns being a blatant money-grab. There, half the forum was a rant-thread. Kenshi is doing quite well, and not just compared to them.

Another Rant to you from me.
Even on an explicit area dedicated to the rants, there's fanboys versus the rants, it is ridiculous and not productive for the game players but only for the game developers, whetever there are fanboys rant to players here mean this topic is a scam and a troll aganist the complaint people. Moderate them without killing the topic, moderate them without killing the free speech.

But nobody has attacked you or argued with you in any way, nobody is trolling you, people are just giving their feedback. Look at it like this: I have never deleted any of your posts when you derail threads, but now you want me to censor other people's?
As long as nobody is arguing with eachother and people feel safe to criticize us here, then it's all good. But can you really not see that using derogatory names like 'fanboy' is going to troll and start a war? Please, try to get along with the rest of the community.

You named the topic "Rant at us here" not me. So the compliments and congratulation or justification of "fanboys" to you, are off-topic... are totally off-topic, but you seems to like and protect them more than the ranters have complaint about game development, even if u open a topic dedicated to it.Koomatzu wrote:But nobody has attacked you or argued with you in any way, nobody is trolling you, people are just giving their feedback. As I said:
(Using inverted commas doesn't make an insult any less insulting to people. Play nice)
If I'd made a 'Compliment Us' thread, I wouldn't delete any complaints. You can make it out to be some kind of conspiracy theory all you want but it's just a matter of free speech. Every one of the comments above is constructive and non-confrontational. I haven't been biased to you in any way, so why so accusive and angry?I have never deleted any of your posts when you derail threads, but now you want me to censor other people's?

my main complaint is that after a short bit the game becomes to easy
hence my Mods that increase everyones stats and numbers to make game harder.
though i did try the great chance of death and damage multiplier, which i now nickname the one stop chop shop of death slider bar. it was a bit to unrealistic for me, since i usually died in one hit from a hungry bandit..... and armour had no effect. cept giggle at me that something just killed me.
would think that is my main complaint so far.
im not to worried on when updates come out though, long as they come out least once every 3 months. is very patient in waiting for things to come... usually but not allways.
my rant is done with now to my Admin duties

everyone is allowed to post here, even if the complaints are minor in some cases. or seam based on liking the game even so. No one has infringed on your ability here since you haven't stepped past the rules like you did on steam.
even in a rant topic we still have rules.
Thank you.

Still having issues with my gates on the experimental... For some odd reason my gate seems to have created an unpassable extra-planer wall across the desert between my base and the nearest town. seemingly half way... It is a royal pain in the butt, as in order to go past it, i have to open the gate to my base just to go through it, when it's like 100-200 yards away from my base, and not even connected... It makes no sense whatsoever...
I have reloaded, redrew navmesh, and even exported many times.. This problem is persistent with this gate.
The AI's are still very disfunctional to a point of hair-ripping frustration. They literally run to the nearest town to fight enemies on "protect allies" when i don't even have any units of mine in that town. I just don't get it...
Kenshi has a small developement team. I don't know what the chances are of hiring more people, but I truely think that would be the best thing to do. Lofi seems to have one person working on each different part of the game, and I think even just two would make a MASSIVE difference... Because it's very true that no matter how good you are, it's human nature to miss even the most obvious things, and spend countless nights trying to solve an issue, and another person just having different perceptions could look at it for 30 seconds and go "Oh.. there's your problem right there". One person working on the pathfinding is probably the reason it's not been resolved. Another view on things from another person works miracles.

Mmmkay! I have changed my wording to discourage any literal ranting.
I do personally agree with this, especially the whole looking at a problem from another perspective. But for the time being, I think we are at our max team size. I think sometimes a small startup company's biggest downfall can be expanding too quickly.Kenshi has a small developement team. That's very true... just wish there was an easier way of doing this :\Koomatzu wrote:I do personally agree with this, especially the whole looking at a problem from another perspective.
