I was thinking it would be cool if there were some sort of herd creature that if startled it would stampede. If you were caught in front of them they would knock you down and trample you for damage. Swinging swords would do nothing to slow them you just have to get out of the way.

Perhaps if some of the rocks would force you to move around them instead of through them they could provide some cover.

These creatures could be hunted for food, but if they see you coming or when one is taken down they start charging in a circle and then head out in a random direction.

I just like the thought of powerful sword masters looking up and saying "OH SH!T RUN!"

Topical jokes aside: Stampedes are definitely a big danger, and it would be pretty cool to try to escape to safety when a herd of strange animals suddenly starts running in your direction. Nifty idea.
Edit: it adds extra danger to the mix when you think that the stampede may have been caused by a leviathan, or may just be a stampede of leviathan. In the former's case, it's not just the stampeding animals you have to worry about.

Back on the subject of the Hajj, I'm offended, as a human being, that people would keep walking instead of trying to stop when the person in front of them falls. Seriously, all it would've taken would have been for people to try to stop, and shout baco over their shoulder that they needed to stop. We're not mindless animals that break into a stampede, killing any along the way, even our own kind, based on the yipping of a single much smaller animal. We're human beings with the strength and knowledge to stop, and keep others safe.

There's no excuse for more than 1000 people dying because of people walking.

Don't take what I said to be anti-Islam, rather, I'm just as pissed that people die every year on black friday when people try to get into walmart. Seriously, no one should ever want to get into walmart so badly that they're willing to take a human life, not even in the zombie post apocalypse.

Oh, I was just opening with a joke about recent, topical news, and the highly coincidental timing of this feature request. I then went on to say I think the idea sounds good, and then closed with my thoughts on human stampedes.

I edited it to make it more clear that the opening was just a bad topical joke.
