I bought this game over two years ago or whenever it was that it first came out on Steam. Holy shit I can't believe its not done yet. Fantastic premise but I've had it for two years now. Very disappointing that its not done yet. Check for updates every now and then but its basically that old coat in the closet I refuse to throw away. No one likes seeing that ugly coat when they open the closet, and thats what your game has become bastards.

Development is still ongoing and approaching a near type of Betas.
If we go by the version number, Kenshi is right now, about 3/4 done.
Most games take about 2 to 6 years to develop. the more complex the longer it takes. Fallout 4 with a team of about 60 to 80 people took about 6 years and is still under development at this time. Kenshi didn't start full development until 2013, which is when it got greenlit on Steam and earned the Dev enough money to quit his other job and work on Kenshi full time.
We are now in the second year of full development so its going rather quickly when compared to other games of this complexity and size of the Staff work on it.
Now we can understand your wanting the game to be finished but it still has a bit more to go. best estimates right now from what i been seeing is about a year left. maybe less.
The Development team just went thru a month and a half of pure bug fixing to make Kenshi more or less stable for everyone to play. In the next week ( or two ) a new update is coming out with more bug fixes and a small amount of new content.
After that they are going back to working on the new world map which should come to us in about 2 to 4 months. maybe more, maybe less. we are not fully sure as they haven't given a rough time frame when it will be ready.
We have a topic called Criticize Us, your more then welcome to vent your frustrations there long as you still follow our forum posting rules.
Until then enjoy and dont forget to check the roadmap and main web page for more information, or Twitter or Facebook.
You can find this information on steam in this pinned topic called Useful Information and links For Kenshi or About us on the main web page.

I can understand how you feel as I was extremely excited when I first saw Kenshi. However I did put my money into Kenshi years before it was on Steam Greenlight yet I have not lost the hope of seeing this game finished and I have in fact bought several copies, some I've given out to friends and others are just sitting on my steam account waiting but my point is this, my money is on Kenshi and I believe it's a good investment if you like the type of game that Kenshi is.agedwisdom wrote:I bought this game over two years ago or whenever it was that it first came out on Steam. That's just me rambling
But with all due respect, please be patient, as Hatsune_Neko pointed out then it is looking like we'll be seeing BETA and possibly RELEASE within the next year.
Peace be with you ^_^
As a bearer of an average laptop to play games on, on top with life situations, I am saintly patient when it comes to waiting and watching over the game's development. Kenshi is not the only game I have that is still under development, just putting that out there. The paths and potential branches of a game's development appeals to me

This game is like wine, leave it in the cupboard for several months/years to make it taste a whole lot better!agedwisdom wrote:I bought this game over two years ago or whenever it was that it first came out on Steam. you do realize that this game is being developed by only a handful of people right ? they're not big like EA or Ubisoft (even their games have lots of bugs and missing contents for the sake of money).agedwisdom wrote:I bought this game over two years ago or whenever it was that it first came out on Steam. when i purchased this game long long time ago, i played for like a week, then left it in my folder, steam keep updating but i didnt touch it again, and last week when i check it, lots of new things are in the game, so yeah, im not disappointed at all.
as i've said in other thread, a good game can be developed up to 6-8 years...
look at Elite Dangerous, a game that promises many thing, but in the end they couldn't deliver their promises, an empty game.. they even dare to release new expansion when the base game is not yet finished.. what a scam...
you dont want Kenshi to be like that right ? i'd say, be patient...

I've played a lot of early release games, I like to be involved in the process when I can. As big a gamer as I am, I love a company that takes and inputs the feedback they get. Bethesda, in general and in my opinion, does a good job of this. This group is not Bethesda. They do not have a huge list of titles that have brought them oodles of cash so they can make one game after the next non-stop. This did not start out as people doing nothing but coding this game. This was someone who had a great idea, took the concepts that he and the others who got involved in this project, and started to flesh them out.
I've been following this game since more or less the inception. I've seen the leaps and bounds of progress they've made. This game has been evolving, moving towards completion. The monumental task of coding is more than most people can understand. The intricacies involved are massive, and the more they want you to be able to do in the game as a player, the more work it takes for them. Look at the scale of this game, the systems and most of all, the freedom this game gives you. None of that is simple. Has it been "playable" for a very long time? Sure. But that's so they could get you, as a player, to see what the goal was, get your input on how to achieve that, and what YOU want in the game.
When most publishers only care about the bottom line and make excuses like "developing a game is expensive, so we have to cut features here and there to give you a playable game" this team has done the opposite. There are a number of things they've put in here that weren't part of the original concept. Patience is a virtue, and yes, the wait for this game has been quite long, but of everything I've seen in my years of gaming, and especially in the last few years, this game holds a lot of promise. And this is a good example of a dev that is working very hard to deliver on all their promises.

Is this a joke? Go google how long it takes to create games on average . AAA games are usually announced when the game is nearing the end of its creation process. Games takes 2-4 years to create from ground up. This isnt battlefield or skyrim with the engine already done and simply updated every now and than.
