I tried to search the forums, but none of the words in "in game editor" are acceptable search terms.

I'm to the point where I'm starting to build a base, but losing everything stored on import isn't helping me resume where I left off so I would like to learn how to use the in-game editor to help replace items lost on import.

I've opened it in game, but clicking the items field doesn't seem to do anything. If I click too many times, it crashes the game.

I recall reading once that the in game editor actually edits the game, not your saves. Is that still true? If so then it would seem it's not going to be an option for this as that sounds like an easy way to screw stuff up.

If that isn't an option is there any way that someone can think of to help replace items? Otherwise, testing base building is very impractical.

Can someone please provide some insight?

I know how to activate it. The post is about much more than that. I said I opened it but couldn't see how to do what I am seeking.

I'm looking to put items in inventory or containers. Something like that. And also, if doing so is possible is that going to mess with the base game files like I've read the editor can do.

far as I know you cant add items to inventory or storage using the editor and the editor won overwrite the base game files unless you hit the save button in which case it offers you a warning that you'received about to do so. My suggestion is to stick to only placing buildings. getting stored items back isn't back 8f you already have the buildings. other advice would be to save before using the editor and store as much food as you can on your people before importing.

Answered by Luminaire on the Steam forum:

"Purchase domesticated bulls and stick packs on them. You can store materials on them quite easily en masse.
Do not use the ingame editor. The only result will be you flusing your data files because it will break your entire game, not just your savegame. That still holds true. The ingame editor should only be used for advanced modders in making mods. Not just adding stuff to your live game."

So looks like using the editor isn't a good idea. Have to find some domesticated bulls.
