I had this thought a while ago only just now getting around to posting it but with 0.90.0 we are now able to collect bone (be there only teeth) but with the much large pieces lying about in the nest I thought why can't I simple grab it a make a weapon or kill a large animal to get some bone.
in terms of lore this would go great with the Cannibals, Fogmen, and maybe even Dust Bandits or the Starving Bandits, and players starting a new game working from the bottom up. reason being is none of them are crafters an no one likes them to do business with them so how are they getting iron weapons. that's where the bone weapons comes in the only way for them to get iron weapons is to steal them or loot them, but with that option it would be rare for them to have them still making important people only to have iron weapons an everyone else with bone.
the weapons I thought of
- spears
- clubs
- swords(maybe)
- axes(maybe)
to balance it
- all bone weapons are faster than iron/steel weapons but weaker in terms of damage
- use the camp-fire to make them (or maybe a new build being required but easy to acquire)
- successful blocking with bone sword has a chance of being stunned but will still take no damage
- attackers with bone axe has a small chance of stunning the defender while also a small chance of stunning them selves
- bone spears being more ideal for defence an has the reach of the Fragmented Axe (looks like a sword to me)
- bone club being ideal for attacking and same or slightly less range as the iron club (I'd just call it an iron/metal bar than a club)
the following attachments are not the exact thing I was thinking of but might help with designing (if approved of course).

I could see a bone club, maybe a modified bone club, but the problem with bone weapons is going to come down to use. A bone sword will simply not stand up to a metal sword, not for one combat. Eventually a heavy sword like a Ringed Saber is going to just go right through it and then the player is left unarmed.
If every block carries a possibility of the weapon breaking, then I can see it being an interesting addition. But I don't know what that would look like on coding this late into the game.
I do like the idea of bone clubs, though, and the less-modified shape would be more resilient to blows. They might still be prone to break, but an actual bone I can see parrying a lot more reasonably than a carved sword.
The sword in the picture is a steel blade with a bone handle, by the way.

I could see bone being added as decoration for weapons, but not actual weapons them selves.
Bones can be very great in strength but are also extremely weak.
I could take a baseball bat to some guys leg and easily break it with one swing. not to mention most Armour can easily defend against it unless its pointy but even then once you work on bone you make it incredibly weaker and more prone to breaking on impact.
so this would be a awesome idea for modders to add to weapons and such for decoration.
but as for a practical weapon.. not the best idea. since a stick and some woven grass and a stone attached to it is more durable and usable then bone is.
