This is a great mistery, melad! All we know is that he has been running every motel in the Old Lands, probably has had way too many clones, and wanted to be a doctor at some point :)

All in all though, i think that your idea makes sense. I imagine a small, badly lighted shack, filled with various cans and jars and... spare parts, with a wooden table for patients, etc. etc.
