After a long time thinking, i have concluded that there is one major, troubling thing:
Unarmed needed to be implemented at the same time slavery was.
If you lose your weapon, you can only run away. That is it, that is the only option left to you.
So at the moment escaping from a heavily armed camp, or from one slaver, requires stealth and planning.
I do not know what the eta is, or how long it will take before unarmed will be added to the game, but this was something that should have been added by now. After all, if you are a dangerous martial artist, what do you have to fear? If you have the strength to break out of chains, then you probably have the strength to break a man's skull with a fist.
OR:
Do slavers really need clubs? Why club an expensive piece of property, when you can just slap it around a bit until it gets the message?
Slavery needed the unarmed mechanic, and i fear we will start to see some balance issues once unarmed is implemented.

there's no unarmed but theres stealth KO which i think you can use without a weapon, and at a high level is an amazingly powerful tool.
You can also always just steal a weapon from one of the chests around the slaver camp, they're usually left unlocked and they fill up fast with how many slaves they get.

There is so much potential in this game, but the progress is so, so very slow. I mean, the game has been in Alpha for how many years? And it just entered Beta, but that's also just in the Experimental version.
Not to mention the game is filled with bugs and other problems, which sometimes make the game unplayable. For example, path finding sometimes takes the characters through a roundabout, instead of going straight through the shortest way, while there is nothing preventing them from doing so, or they just get stuck somewhere, glitching back and forth, until I order then to move elsewhere. Or buildings that can't be entered due to terrain blocking the entrance. Etc.
AI is sometimes also troublesome. For example a strong enemy knocks me out, and stays patrolling nearby, so after I wait out a couple of min to recover, I get knocked out again, and have to wait another few min until I recover, die, or get bored and decide to load a previously saved file due to the cycle repeating. Or another instance where where the enemy picked up my unconscious character, just to run around and patrol forever, while carrying him on his shoulders.
Unarmed combat should also be a thing. If your weapon gets stolen, you have no way to defend yourself, and that is silly for a game that wants to be realistic; a man should be able to exchange a few blows with his fists. Sure, it can't be the best option vs. an armed opponent, but it's something, and if trained enough, at the very least it will prevent low level bandits from having their way with you, in case you forgot to bring a sword with you.
I love what this game is, and what it can be, but the finished product still seems light years away from now with the pace the development currently has. With the Beta already looking so beautiful, I really can't wait to see the game being finished. But don't get me wrong, I don't wish to see a rushed end result.

It gets God awful annoying, when your in the middle of a fight, and one of the guys gets enslaved. If the fight is still going on, they should not try to get in a cage, but they should get right back up, and start beating people up some more.
Worse still, when someone decides to just wing it, and runs forever in one particular direction. I had a guy run to bad teeth while i was in the middle of purging the holy mines.
This gets to be a nuisance.
as for the games state, i don't mind it really. I know its in early alpha, and i am enjoying it thus far.
So long as mods work with each update, i will be happy. I do not want another minecraft, where i have to wait for my mods to catch up after each update.
I am conflicted.
I feel like things are being added that bring the dev team personal happiness have been given a priority and that things that would actually make the game better for everyone and be more logical are being pushed off.
In the years I have been supporting this game, I have felt this same way on many occasions the most recent is moving the pet system up in priority but leaving ranged combat and auxiliary weapons (spears etc). A balanced combat system in a game that plays like Kenshi is fairly important and with the game play modules build and layered on top it will be impossible to have a DEEP and balanced combat throwing them on at the end.
But boy at least I can have a pet.
As bitter as I am about this, I usually just take a step back and say this is not MY game it is HIS. In a way it is not being built for me, but by his vision. So I can't really get upset I suppose its just been so many years of support I started to feel emotionally connected to the project and news like this is always disheartening.

Hi,
decided to make an account, been a kenshi fan since the first versions. Really think this is a gem of a game and I'm looking forward for future content.
However, recent when playing the latest beta 0.90.16, I've noticed a few hiccups which made me register an account. Pardon my french, but it feels like a real clusterfuck when traveling from the hub to waystation. I don't know if it is intentional, but I've noticed in the past releases that there have been added roadblocks for the roads. Either a treetrunk or some big mountain rubble. This makes most character go back to the stone age when it comes to pathfinding. A man cannot simply trust the character to go from point A to point B. It is really frustrating to traverse through those areas. Especially when at some places the character simply goes back and forth. Or just uses a path where the road is blocked.
To be fair, I think it took me close to 20min of trail and error to get from the hub to the waystation and then going back to the hub from the waystation. Also the character for some reason stops for time to time. I must admit, I did swear loudly a couple of times at my monitor.
Of course these things are bound to happend in beta, though I very much think this is still in alpha.

Not necessarily criticism just concerns. Whenever I find a game that just blows my mind, like Kenshi, I want to run to the guys I play eve online with and tell them about it. This game has a lot of potential but I just want to make sure that goals are still being met and that progress is being achieved. The people who play games have a stake in them. They invest their money in buying the game and their time in playing it so every person who hits that purchase button had a stake in this game and we'd all love to see it come to a completion with regular updates or whatnot. Anyway, I just wanted to voice my concern and comments. In my opinion you guys have a great game that has massive amounts of potential and if work is still being pushed through at a reasonable rate I'll always steer my friends this way.

Game is still very much being developed. in the Experimental stage the game is now at beta so if everything goes well ( this is my estimated date not the Dev's ) the game should finish around the end of this year or early next year.deathdealerdelta wrote:snip

Gotcha that's great to hear. I really don't think I deserve a voice or whatnot since I just found the game a few days ago but so far I can see that with the right determination this game has the potential to be awesome. I mean it already has things that make it unique and well worth spending time on.
i cant imagine this game finishing in under 2 years right now....Its a huge mess right now.
Ive been playing this on and off for a long time now,i recently came back to see where it was, having heard about the new "map" and features....and if i had to categorize its current condition,vs its past conditions,id have to say its easily among the worst of the worst right now.
Now if the map was huge, that would be a mitigating factor, but the map portion we can play on,sure as heck feels much smaller than the old map.And thats with giving it some leeway on how horrible navigation currently is,and how many "map areas" are an outright nightmare to reach....if you even can, which i am not at all sure of.....and again,im only talking about the overall small area we are currently allowed to "access"...
I came back,looked for a stable version,there wasnt one.
Now theres a "more" stable open release version thats not very stable.
The map is small and is a mess, the navigation on said map is a mess, the controls are still bad,the combat is still badly screwed up in many areas ,like when one npc guy charges 20 of yours and then hits most of them in a single swing......
I am more than a bit disappointed...so much so that I think even 2 years is actually being overly optimistic..I dont think in the 4 to 5 years ive followed and played this game, ive ever been this concerned it will be never be finished. That the final release,if it comes will be a mass of features that are messed up beyond redemption

Look I know some people like the hunger thing. That is fine and good for them. Me personally I hate it. You did leave an option to not have to deal with it. An I was liking this new map. But now with the hunger issue not been able to opt out it has ruined the game for me.

Hello!
Well where should I begin, I really liked the old map...without super hyper deadly monster that kill a village and eat their corpse while you were sleeping in one of the houses and follow you around the small new map to finally kill and eat you because you just give up.
Ok ok this is the worst try that I made. But the others was even shorter when you realise that spawning with special "races" is a curse because you spawn in the Super Racists town.
I admit that, as a young game designer I have some trouble with how you manage this game. This concept is a treasure but recently you destroy it...
I know that a good feedback must be constructive so here it is:
-Why the player doesn't spawn in a neutral village?
-Why massive groups of deadly monster spawn randomly killing everybody?
-Why great parts of the new map are useless because: sandstorm, mountains, sea?
Thank you for reading I still hope this game can be a perfect pearl!

Because that is currently the only playable area of the map. When other areas open up as developement moves along, that will not be an issue.. Admittedly, the Holy lands were probably a poor place to START the new map with... but that is just as it is.wormykle wrote: -Why the player doesn't spawn in a neutral village?
Entirely not sure what in the world you are talking about o.o...wormykle wrote: -Why massive groups of deadly monster spawn randomly killing everybody?
Because mountains and sea exist on planets? I"m not sure what you mean by the sandstorms though.. There are no sandstorms that make any areas useless that I know of.wormykle wrote: -Why great parts of the new map are useless because: sandstorm, mountains, sea?
You're welcome! sorry i didn't understand all your questions though...wormykle wrote: Thank you for reading I still hope this game can be a perfect pearl!

First of all I think the game have great potential and I hope the developers have the resources to finish it.
My problem is that sometimes developers don't work on bugs we report and implement new features before fixing the existing one. This also bring my problem that they don't have some area in the forum (maybe in the bug section) where they say: "We currently work on this, this and this and those willing to help will test every aspect of it.
Another problem is that developers make the life harder for them by not telling us in the changelog all the new features or changes. I have seen several times something like this and I was able to notice them but I am not sure all the peoples managed to see them. This will make some peoples think the developers work slow.
I downloaded this game from torrent. I said I like it and is worth my support since then the game got an update once a week and sometimes when critical bugs even twice a week so I don't understand why some peoples think it develop slow. We don't know the size of the team, their skill level and their budged but I see them trying and hopefully will do it.

It's extremely difficult for me to be stealthy if I can't even see inside of a building that I just picked the lock to.
