This is a advance Notice.
Ill soon be going offline in the coming weeks as i am preparing to move irl. I dont know how long ill be gone but im asking the other Moderates to step up in my place in the mean time until i have internet back after i move.
My times online are already erratic as im packing things up irl.
To our forum users. if i give short curt answers is because i have little time to answer yuor questions currently. so pardon my gruffness.
Thank you
Kenshi Admin.

small update
im still getting ready to move.. yea i know taking forever, but im having other issues now.
like my computer is starting to fail. already lost 1 hard drive ( tonight actually ) and my video acting up and i have no means to replace anything that fails.
I can still access via my Kindle.. but its not a easy task. and it could be months before i get my computer replacement parts, if at worst. 6 months. idk, so much depends on my moving and what job i get when i get there and or how long it takes me to get onto disability.
For now ill continue as i always have, but if i drop off suddenly. you will know why.

and thanks though the move should have happened already but my sister and brother in law keep delaying it. which is sorta good since i have to pay for my part of the move and i don't have enough yet.
Right now i really, really hope my computer doesnt die, or that it waits until after i move and have a new income source. so many if's at this moment. but least i'm prepared for it. sorta... :/

symptoms.
Monitor goes blank looks like it powers down. it then shows back up but as pure static. checked monitor. everything plugged in nice and tight.
Restarted my computer. it hangs at the bios loading screen forcing a complete power down. after a minute i power back up. computer is slow to respond and load back up.
if anyone has seen this happen before and has a clue what it might be, please let me know. i already know its not the monitor. it wouldn't cause my computer to shut down.
if it goes down again and i cant get it to-boot back up. ill change to my kindle and check in that way.
but my computer looks like it could very well go down permanently soon.

Good luck with the move.
As for your hardware issues.....hard drive failing, monitor connection issues and hanging on bios sounds like you might have a corrupt motherboard. Either that or a power supply issue.

Are the crashes at random times or during similar activities? (like activating a game .exe,etc..)
Look at the mobo for signs of corrosion, swelled capacitors or possible liquid from some object that may have slightly melted.
Also, try swapping power supplies to see if it could be a power issue.

Definitely replace the supply then.
How is the mobo itself?
Side-note: What happened to the indie game connection post? I was hoping to see if anyone knew of a decent medieval rpg

as for the indie game one, dont know, its still around, just no one posts in it.
but i replaced my old PS with a Thermaltake SP-650P: Smart 650W W/Active PFC just 30 minutes ago.
and i did find out that my computer is acting way better and only had 1 time so far today where my monitor screen blanked out after adding in the new PS. so its still possible my video card is having an issue.
as for the Mobo.. idk. i don't have any way to check it.

I had a similar issue once where my powersupply was going and I also experienced issues where my computer would crash during certain games. After I checked my mobo I noticed 2 things: one,the board was slightly corroded and two, the graphics card had a layer of melted silicone in its PCIe slot. I know that if the psu goes it can wreak havac on the mobo.
1 Check the graphics card slot to see if there is any sign of any melted plastic/silicone.
If so, you could possibly use WD40 specialist: for circuit boards. (research first, to ensure it would not damage board)
2 if you are running dual graphics cards in SLI, disable SLI and use the monitor with the other card. (idk if you need to utilize the graphic card control panel to make the secondary slot the primary monitor or if it is simply plug and play
3 keep the new psu in, the old one is most likey no good if fan is dead
4 it could be possible that bad psu damaged board, if all else fails start investing in new mobo. If you are on a budget, try to ebay/craigslist a replacement/slightly better board(with same cpu socket,etc..)

so far haven't been able to rule anything else out.
screen still blanks and the MB looks to be in good shape besides a few spots with a bit of dust build up which i had removed most of.
but my main components are about 4 years old now too.. on a heavily used computer. though i got a help me site setup to try and help me raise money just incase.
problem is the replacement part's i got picked out, while cheap are of a completely different type. like changing over to Intel instead of a all AMD system that i have now.
but is kinda hard to do sicne living on a budget and pay-scale that's been reduced by 50% for the past year. while i gotta save for next years tax's and save for the move, and now computer parts.. ugg lol
so for now not much i can do but wait. all the parts i want to replace require a new MB, except the video card. which is the most expensive part.
but i am still looking for diag tools to see if they can identify whats wrong with my computer.

Anyway, does your monstrous 8 core got integrated GPU? If so you might want to replug your monitor into display port on mobo, remove GTX, remove old \ install new gpu drivers and see what happens.
Then rip every last one of RAM sticks out of their slots, plug them one by one and see what happens, in hope to find faulty stick if there's one.
It doesn't seems like RAM or HDD issue though. How old that monitor of yours is? And what type of windows user you are? "Download everything and let it be" or "Don't need that anymore, delete" ? Might be heavily used faulty Windows. Could be usefull to check GPU power connectors as well.

Hey!!
it was good 4 years ago.. now its just... blah
ill have to take time to sit down and do most that, just gotta get the time and not be in to much pain to do it. because thats a lot of work.
anything related to power has already been redone as i just replaced my PSU.
my Mobo is stand alone. to have video i gotta have a GPU card.
ram checks out fine in performance. so i really dont think thats gonna be an issue.
if i had money i would just take down to a repair shop because even though im good with computers, i do have my limits and diagnosing whats wrong is one of those limits i passed.
as for what tpye of windows suer am i?
i selectively put what software i want in and remove everything else i dont want or need. i already fallowed a few articles to turn off MS ability to spy on my computer for the most part. im very diligent in whats on my computer.

Fair enough.
Still i'd say that some RAM stick 'could' be a bit out of place if not completely faulty, so i'd check if they all are sturdily pinned. Just to be sure.
Looks like FX's and integrated GPUs walks separate lanes, so vendors still have to solder GPU on a motherboard. So 2006
My bad anyway, should've done some research.
As for age - hardware aging is overexaggerated. We didn't get any significant CPU performance boosts since... 2010-2012 (i checked this time xD). I'm still gaming comfortably on my rig, yours is even more capable to. Maybe not every game will perform great on max, but that's due to lazy\time limited coders and some games being particulary greedy for GPU
Btw, i assume monitor is also plugged tightly to GPU connector? Do you have any performance drops before monitor's blanking out? Might be overheating GPU. Kind of pointing fingers to the sky here, but who knows... sometime issues are smaller then they seem
