So i tend to enjoy building my base next to hiveling, because they're so adorable and friendly!
But i saw something strange just now, and it was a Western Hive Soldier Drone who had been downed and shackled in the middle of their territory. I rushed in to unshackle him, and it somehow made a nearby soldier drone angry at me. He ran over and whacked me, and the next thing i knew, all the soldier drones patrolling my base were being mercilessly slaughtered...
I'm really not sure why unshackling one of their fallen soldiers would drive them to war with me.

So i picked up this soldier drone and put him in a bed, and tried unlocking the shackles again, the nearby drones were declaring me as "Stealing from the hive". ?
[0.93.4] Unshackling hiveling broke out in war between us.
I have a base near the hiving and happen to me to get that "Stealing from the hive" although I have a mod where some wandering squads are stealing from my shopping counter I noticed once they was referring at my character. I did not had hive soldiers wandering my base so no one engaged me but once an escaped dust bandit slave who turned back to my base was defeated the hive worker gone, take his sword and turned hostile because I was trying to unlock his shackles.
Anyway take care about those hivers. They steal your goods and hinder back with your skills

Since the hiveling can't equip anything on their legs/feet, I noticed they have a special shackle that goes in their chest slot. I wonder if this shackle is causing the issue.

seems like a bug. although, while hive is quite nice, i'd rather leave them to their affairs, since they're still quite alien and behave diffirently from humans
Differently or not they might be useful when you have a low number faction. But when you have enough peoples they will keep you back from developing skills and they also steal products if you don't haul them in timeSol Lignum wrote:seems like a bug. although, while hive is quite nice, i'd rather leave them to their affairs, since they're still quite alien and behave diffirently from humans
So an interesting new developement on this bug... It seems to be a problem with the hive themselves.
There was a hungry bandit that had shackles on in my base (How the heck he even GOT shackled, i do not know... Do hive shackle downed units? I don't think so?).
Upon trying to unlock the shackles of this hungry bandit, a worker drone came running at me accusing me of being a "Stealer!".
What is going on here?

Maybe npcs shackled on the hive territory are considered hive property? Question is: how did this bandit ended up being shackled in a first place?Zeal wrote:(...) What is going on here?
The Dust Bandit was attacking me and was defeated in battle then the Slave Mogers came and enslaved him. All the escaped slaves come to my base and roam around they are hostile but if they don't have a weapon there is no fight. This Dust Bandit had one and after I defeated him I was trying to unshackle him to die free. The the hive worker drone come to take his weapon and turned hostile. It was a particular event as it only happen once.Zeal wrote:So an interesting new developement on this bug... It seems to be a problem with the hive themselves.

I think they somehow think that when I unshackled that enemy I am an enemy or something as they always scream "they steal from the hive" when one escaped slave try to open a closed door or someone is stealing from shop counter.
That's true. It could just be that the bandit was shackled somewhere else and wandered into my base.Drag00ne wrote:The Dust Bandit was attacking me and was defeated in battle then the Slave Mogers came and enslaved him. Though the shackled hiveling is strange. Typically the hiveling and slavemongers don't collide. Their distance of patrols is far enough away that i've never seen slavemongers in the hive territory, and there are no wild hiveling patrols...
As for the bug of them getting angry when you try to unshackle, maybe in regards to ownership based on territory like Lignum suggested? What a peculiar bug..
My base is right is the border zone between first hive village and the hub closer to the hive village. In fact is divided by the road which delimit hive zone and the other zone. Because of this hives come to my base to help and steal goods they produce when I don't haul them. There they get attacked by gorillos they bring in their way to my base and get knocked out and since slave mogers patrol that road they meat each other. Anyway I haven't seen a dust bandit there since a few versions and the only ones I meet was enslaved far away from my base so I have no idea why they come to my base after they got enslaved and escaped.
So.. NEW update to this... Apparently it's not just hiveling.
I unshackled a dust bandit, and another dust bandit ran up to me while i was doing it and was like "Whatcha doin with that lock?" Then attacked me.
Seems that for some reason shackles are being registered as an owned lock/equipment by the person that is shackled, and anyone seeing you messing with it who cares about thievery declares you as stealing.
