'Roam' - Basically sets selected animal(s) to Patrol the outpost they are currently in, or the surrounding area. Also flags the animals to breed and forage. Bulls and Garru will start grazing and replenishing their food that way, while Dogs and the like will seek out corpses or attack wildlife in local proximity. (There should be some sort of assessment for potential combat outcome so a pup isn't expecting to predate on a Leviathan.)
I think this could make hunger work for animals, as well as make ranching a possibility in the game. We would be able to gather a herd of Bulls and guard them while they reproduce, and then hopefully we can sell the animals live, or just harvest them and sell the meat and leather.
It's something I've wanted to see for a while, just a 'Roam' option on the right-click pull-down menu, so we can breed our animals just like the Holy Farms do. Could open up some interesting options for gameplay. Herding in bandit territory would be a fun game, I imagine.

Right? Ranching and katanas. Destroying all varmints can't get any better!
If you have a walled in ranch for your valuable herd to roam in, that's one thing. But otherwise Hungry Bandits and Escaped Servants, all those types, should see a herd of bulls as valuable prey to poach. Seriously, poachers would balance out player-controlled animals a lot. It would also increase the need to protect and escort convoys.
As far as the garru, I've not seen them sold in game yet but I remember seeing the garru backpack for sale somewhere in the new area. I imagine it's coming, and I expect as dialogue develops.

Sorry for the necro but I whole heartedly agree with the need for passive animals to be able to graze for food. In environments that are at least 50% green it makes sense that they'd be able to wander about feeding on vegetation.
Being able to breed animals for either resources or to trade would provide some actual use for creatures like goats. As it stands I don't see the use or need for animals at all, it seems like an unfinished feature of the game.
