Safest Region to build Base?

After escaping the Dust bandits in the starter area and having my party wiped by a Holy Empire patrol because (I assume) I have a Shek with me, I don't know where to go. Are there any good regions for me to head to to start my town?

HN territory would be a place to go, but you got Sheck in party. Hive would be a place to go, but they are since recently experiencing certain difficulties with gutters. You might try to go Hub, it's not a safest place, but it has some guards, and occasional Dust fights are a good exp. It's located in a southern part of known map.
I would start in Hive territory. Find a place south of the river and just east of the Hub. Better get used to eating cactus and green fruit, but it's the easiest place to start. Just stay south of the Gutter nests, and west of the Dust Bandits and you should only have to deal with a few hungrys and escapees. And the odd Gorrillo. Really wish we could make coats out of those guys.

Either around the Hub or near Hive territory (check to make sure there are no Beak Thing nests around)
Go too far east of the Hub and you'll be dealing with Dust Bandit raids frequently, which can be a nightmare until you get defensive turrets built.
I'm stationed there, but I also have multi-barrel turrets that eat Holy Nation for breakfast, and lots of them :3

Hub area = Dust bandits infested area (sometimes they make camps on the mountains in really strange positions)TheCometCE wrote:Either around the Hub or near Hive territory (check to make sure there are no Beak Thing nests around)

The safest one maybe the Holy Nation area because almost no bandits.....if you have no women in the group or you have long weapons (Fragment axe, Plank, Topper, Long Cleaver....) equiped on heavy armoured soldiers or a good wall with turrets. My favourite option? Strong (50-80 stats) heavy armored team of course. Yesterday I did a test with my executioners squad and they can enter in one of their cities without loses

Excuse me, fair notice. Whole "HN mistreats women" thing is a bit misunderstood i believe.Set wrote: (...) if you have no women in the group (...)
They does not tolerate liberal clothing and bahaviour and appeal to highest degrees of modesty among women. Agree their methods of moderation may appear inapropriate to civilized being, but in generall, they won't in any way prosecute a properly dressed outsider woman who seemingly respect their fate. So people with women in group should have no problem inhabiting HN territory.

South west of hub, there is a spot with iron and water...good spot to build a small outpost to train up,farming dust bandits and food.
open your map ingame and look right below the H in hub..around that spot should be a nice looking spot to set up a pretty good base.imo.
Also to the east of hub,on the map looks like a flat spot...right there is also good for wheat. But water is around 35%...so you would need to make sure to have water storage.
Being fresh squad i would chill around hub, then after you can deal with the gorrillos and Beak things, move into the hive.
OR GET RID OF THAT GUY....start over and make a base around Stack in okran's Gulf..and use stack as your trade hub Holy Nation lands, like the Gulf and Pride are good spots for new squads, cause Hungry Bandits are just as weak...dust bandits are around 20-25 combat stats, but you could still kill them with about 10 men,you may take a casualty or two sometimes...but their weak gear is better then the hungry bandits.
also you can open up options menu ingame and turn squad size down along with the amount of squads that spawn...so really anywhere is a good place to set up an outpost...kinda

Try to make a long trip on Holy Nation territory with a properly equiped women group (with no man), you will have a holy paladin (&Co) following you to "speak" until he get mad and try to attack you but yes.......they are really moderated and don't hate women
They do that to men as well. Women get worse treatment in the dialog, but they'll shout at you and attack if you ignore no matter your gender.Set wrote:Try to make a long trip on Holy Nation territory with a properly equiped women group (with no man), you will have a holy paladin (&Co) following you to "speak" until he get mad and try to attack you but yes.......they are really moderated and don't hate women
Happened to me regularly on my solo character (Male Greenlander) back before they wanted to murder me on sight. They mostly just wanted to know who I serve, and what I was doing on Okranite soil.
It's pretty easy to avoid getting attacked in that dialog, but if you don't talk to them at all they will cut you down. Just like everybody else.

The only time I've been attacked by HN (male or female) is a non-human entering an HN town. Otherwise they just want to talk first (male or female) and if you make the right choices they leave you alone. Happens more often with woman and the dialog is a bit longer, but just act all humble and stuff they leave you alone after a while. Either way if they want to talk and you keep running they will attack eventually, with no men it happens much quicker though. With non-humans, as long as it's not a Skeleton, they wont bother you too much if you don't enter a city, and even then you'll usually get the pop-up them talking box that says vile beast and such before they attack.
Skeletons ofcourse will get attacked if they see you at all.

Holy Nation is definitely the safest place to build your base.
I built my first one between the 3 major HN cities and it's been a cakewalk. I didn't even have to build walls or any defenses.
Now that I've got my research pretty much done, I'm looking to set up a new outpost out in boonies to finally get some action.

I think it is quite safe to settle south of Waystation in that big valley at the border to the non-published Swamp Lands. My southern wall touches the Beta Limitation, you have some hills which you can use as walls and maybe because it is so far away from every point of interest and near to the beta border almost noone gets there.
I even get bored and search for opponents now...
