Hi, its my first post on these forums and only reason why I really post is because I have encountered really annoying feature from the wildlife, especially raptors. They appear to have no damned care for the fact that the crops are in middle of an walled off village with 3 Gates, they still are attempting to break through them to get two damned green fruit fields or anything else that is surrounded by NPCs/Player characters.
I would like to (If possible ofc) to suggest a change that would add behavior mechanic to the wild animals that avoid being as idiotic as to charge with entire hordes into populated areas (I am speaking of farms/towns full of NPCs and not only player characters) only to then attack the local player controlled characters.
Why do I suggest it? Well perhaps because during my usual trade runs I found rather annoying fact that the wildlife has no issue with any faction NPCs, simply walking towards their fields and devouring all the crops while NPCs do nothing in response, said places aren't walled off in comparison to my outpost. Speaking of which, I am not sure why said wildlife is able to smell/see the damned fields and growing crops through 3 layers of walls and gates separating the animals from said crops.
I mean seriously, I cannot grow anything without ending up being nearly murdered by bunch of raptors that somehow manage to smell a damned field from afar and break through 3 2nd tier gates and then fight against my character even though I do not attack them first. How come that they attack only players but not NPCs while they work on their fields?!
Less "Horde" wildlife
Setup some crossbows overlooking your gates and they will not be as big an issues. And they will not attack you until you attack them. If you let them eat the crops they will be happy and leave.
They do fight with the NPCs as well. but the NPC famers are usually no match for them and go down too quickly. It's when the wandering HN patrols are about that they tend to save the farmers.
But raptors gonna do what raptors gonna do.
They don't care that you have walls. They don't recognize your "claim" to an area. That's where the food is and they want it. survival of the strongest. eat or be eaten. Of course raptor meat would be inedible IMO, so that one is not so accurate.
But yeah a couple crossbows on the walls works well.

that what raptors are supposed to do. get to your crops and they was recently given the ability to break down your gate so they could get to it.
best bet is to pick up stakes and move to a place that's less of an issue for you.
or stay and get free combat training.
also setting up a good kill zone at your front gate is needed. so plan accordingly.
also you can Mod your wildlife to spawn less in the FCS ( Forgotten Construction Set )

Do you believe the sexes should be equal?

Then Men would become unmanageable

I started a new game, set the population to 4 (the max), and built a base near the swamp to figure out the best strategy for this.
Here are 2 ways to do it:
Start off farming in the desert, and only move when you are equipped with heavy cut resistant armor and pole arms. Just pay the dust bandits 300 cats when they bother you.
OR
Hire mercenaries.
Right now the merc AI could use some work, as they don't jump in right away, but they do help quite a bit when fighting the nasty swamp raptors.
Keep in mind that this is on a very high population setting, so on normal they should be more than enough to wipe out the raptors when they attack your crops.
the raptors make perferct sense. They explain why there are not that many cities, and why there are cannibals: farming is very hard.
