Hiyo!
What if we could in a roundabout way trade with caravans automatically.
They show up at your outpost, and with one quick dialog they agree to "sell" your wares wherever they travel.
They teach you a recipe to build a crate/box/whatever that you throw stuff in and they will take what they can and "sell" it to the people of the land. Or sell it to a settlement they walk over to. Maybe it just disappears from their inventory after a while like they sold it to passersby on their travel path.
They drop a reasonable (maximum amount of cats in the box for the stuff they can carry, with a max limit).
You set the box up so they can grab only what they can afford up to the max limit, just some of the stuff, or all of the stuff. They like you more if they pay you the maximum for what should cost more. (only goes up 1 point each time that happens, not 25 points because all you have in there is edge 1 weapons as far as the eye can see)
As the example above, they can only drop a max of 5000 cats in the box for you even when they took 350,000 worth of items/equipment. Their factions relation just went from 0 to 1. Not 0 to 67.
This would make up for your shop counter only being able to sell food.
edit: renamed post.... it was originally trader with caravanners: box.... which sounded a little loopy.
