Didn't really care for Witcher, though number three looks promising.

EDIT: Actually, I've been playing a lot of Geneforge lately. That is a damn good old game series. One of my favourites.

I also am in a rut, mainly thats also why I am asking about any older games

I tried to play Divine Divinity: Original Sin. The game interaction with objects adds a whole new level to Baulder's Gate-like games, but the happy-go-lucky feel and voice acting is horrible. So, I am back to M&M IV

Never played Geneforge, might pick it up on GoG

Geneforge is worth a try. Go to the Spiderweb Software webpage and check out their fairly extensive demos for each of their games. Not many companies do these anymore.

Other random games that are old/cheap/free/good include:

- Open TTD (Transport Tycoon)
- Aurora 4X
- Dungeon Keeper
- Silent Storm
- Mech Commander 1 & 2
- Aquanox
- Theme Hospital

Quite a bit of variety in game styles there. Hopefully it sparks some interest. I'm a fan of all of them and more.

Dungeon keeper is a classic. As for theme hospital, I seen it on gog.com (roughly like 2k likes) what is it supposed to be like? Roller coaster tycoon?

It's a mildly comedic game although I wouldn't use that as a selling point since I hate comedy in games. Mostly the fun is as a light economic management/build 'em up game. The fact that it is in a hospital gives an opportunity for all sorts of fun like patient diagnosis errors resulting in operating table deaths but you still getting paid. Sometimes it can be worth the risk for that sweet sweet cash.

So often my doctors fail to correctly diagnose the correct type of invisibility that a patient is suffering from. My failed pharmacy treatment tends to make them visible again....and poison them to death. But damn, that sweet cash is so tempting.

It is also considerably faster than rollercoaster tycoon. Things tick over fairly quickly which is a nice change from most economic simulators.

So, I am thinking of the possibility of purchasing Sleeping dogs from steam. Read the reviews and I believe the game has promise. So, to the random people of the Internet I ask, Sleeping Dogs? YAY or NAY? (basically to those who own/played the game, what is your experience/rating of it?)

It's good. I liked the city, the fighting, guns was okay and vehicle phisics were fine. The game has great plot and some remarkable characters too. For some reason i don't remember much details, but overall, game has left a very good impression.

Finally bought Sleeping Dogs:

And......

Started mission.......Wei's boss looks pissed......

Threw a guy into a trunk of a taxi (The driver didn't mind.....mostly )

Threw a guy at a glass fish tank.....in a night club......(fish everywhere)

Beat a triad with said fish......in a night club.......(triads everywhere)

A fat man tried to hussle me into buying a pork bun........bought fish ball instead.....was hit by a car shortly after.....

Next mission......Wei's boss still looks pissed............

BEST DAY EVER !

Honestly I rather enjoy the Chinese setting for a mafia/triad/GTA-type game, kind of rare these days. I feel like GTA seems to be stuck in the whole New York mafia/90's gang banger mix thing.

In comparison to, say, GTA IV, Sleeping Dogs feels equal, but it's relative realism and mature thought-out plot is unrivaled by those in GTA V, which i frankly hate for this storytelling step down since previous game.

Glad you enjoyed the game! I have a vague memory that Wai's boss is not as bad as he first appears... but maybe i'm wrong. His granny who works in a kitchen though... yeah, wait till you see it... :)

Bah!

I have yet to find another game in which the undead phase through the ground, yet are trapped when you throw them in a trunk.

On a side-note: I attempted to create a primitive form of Pokemon (in Sleeping Dogs  ) by locking people in the truck of my car and releasing them during gang fights. It turns out, when you lock the undead in a trunk, and release them during battles..........they steal your f****** car!

So there I was, out a trunk specter and a car! Let me tell you, Wei was not a very happy Triad/mole during that Poke-battle.

I suppose Rome:Total War would be considered old at this point.

Magic carpet and monkey island = part of my childhood.

Syndicate was also very good.

Full Throttle and Toonstruck, also classics.
