I think Crawling should always be possible, like it's possible to walk and run. crawling sould also be sutch an option.

The game allows one to crawl now, so I don't see why not be able to crawl on demand.

maybe just make the detection distance much smaller, so you can crawl through two squads of enemy, who would detect you if you walked. or lay down and play dead without being KOed before so you can possibly avoid an encounter (unless they are cannibals or animals trying to eat you, thieves trying to steal your stuff etc.)

Bonus to sneak, perhaps. Less likely to be detected by enemies.
Harder to get hit by ranged weapons. Stay low and don't get hit, boy.

Would be pretty cool to have the ability to lay down and gain a bonus to sneak that's comparable to the bonus on defence when blocking.

The trade off is you can't knock people out, you move very slowly, and if discovered you still have to wait for the stand up animation etc.

Very situational though I guess.
