A person who has control over their blade (attack and weapon skill 50+) and can see the gaps in an enemy's armor (perception 50+) should be able to bypass the armor if not covering 100% of the area (even if it is, any smart warrior would simply skip over that section if they saw it covered). Right now cutting damage feels useless compared to blunt weapons when facing opponents with heavy armor above high grade, making it seem like the only logical choice for the player. Real life combat aside I think this would really make cutting weapons that do less damage (eg Wakizashi) more balanced end game.
edit: hitting armored people in their gaps would also train perception, so you dont have to go use a crossbow to know where armor gaps are.
