The new artificial limbs are very cool. I think it is a bit strange, though, that the player faction is the only one sporting artifical limbs. How has the skeleton doctor been making any money before you - the player - arrived?

United Cities, the Skeletons, Tech Hunters and Machinists should sport artificial limbs occasionally.
It would not make sense for Holy Nation, bandit groups, cannibals or Shek. The Shek would not proudly sport a symbol of their defeat in battle, I would think.

Then again, shek that are defeated in battle have their horns cut I believe, so they carry their shame no matter what. In addition to this they are no longer accepted as warriors and have to resign themselves to the duties of menial labor, not having limbs can be rather detrimental for this as you can well imagine. So what's better, carrying another mark of the same shame or starving to death because you can't work or even walk?

There's also the possibility that despite losing a limb they where not defeated in battle. For these shek the lost limb and eventual replacement would not be a mark of shame but a one of victory over a difficult foe, they might even be proud of their new robot limb and it would absolutely help them keep fighting.

Even the holy nation need not be devoid of artificial limbs entirely. I have no doubt that anyone with a good artificial limb would be killed for being a skeleton, but people with those low tech shitty limbs have little more then a stick to walk on, that can hardly be mistaken for being a skeleton, that's just a cripple using a pegleg to walk. They might get shit for it by drunkards who can't tell the difference but other then that it need not be a problem.

I agree on Sheks, cut off limb doesn't sound like something they would necessarily see as a defeat.

HN, however, is very close-minded faction governed by fear and hatred towards skeletons. They're even killing living persons who they suspect just might be one. The prosthetics, even the simplest one from a hive, are just salvaged skeleton parts, and more then that, has got some form of neural interface, so even the shoddiest of them are bionics.

Literally anyone with an artificial limb gets attacked on sight. The Holy Nation was the most obvious one in my list, as they would never accept artificial limbs.
Bandit groups would if they could, but they do not have the means to even get food, so it would be unrealistic if they had access to artifical limbs.

I missed the Hive, who obviously have no issue with artificial limbs and lose their own limbs quite easily. They should sport shoddy artificial limbs of the cheapest kind.

The Shek sparked some awesome debate. I am a bit on the fence on that one lore-wise. They do get their horn cut off as a disgrace, which is not by their own choice, whereas an artificial limb IS a choice. An outcast in Ruka is still recruited in Shek territory and would probably not have an artificial limb. Outcasts outside the Shek Kingdom could have them, though.

Ah right, I forgot that even the simplest limbs are robotic. Then it does make sense for the holy nation to attack all on sight.

Yeah, but even if it were a literal prothetic of wood it would still not make sense for them to accept them. They're all or death.

That would be rather silly, I don't care how scared or zealous these people are you're not gonna convince family members that their son/daughter has to die just because someone strapped a piece of wood to their cut off leg.

You would be suprised what cultists manage to make their believers do...and let's not forget that the reign of the Phoenix is a couple of centuries old in this universe. This means that a lot of generations have been brainwashed in believing everything the Phoenix says and does.

No I wouldn't, and the Phoenix lord isn't going town to town damning people for wooden legs, unless you have some piece of lore to show that he does. There is a rather clear difference between robotic technology and a wooden peg-leg, the later has no reason to spark suspicion of the feared skeletons.

Tbh i haven't read all of the ingame books yet but as i understood is any non-natural extention is treated as a sign of being a skeleton.Wether it be wood or metal. In the end it's the lore writer of this game that should explain this better (or i should read up more on this).

It could've been a sanctified wooden shaft made in the temple under supervision of the high priest himself, to make sure it's not darkened :|

Honestly, they only hate TECH, wooden shafts would probably be fine.

Ah, i see. But then again where do they get their wood?...I mean it's not like we can chop wood ingame you know. (well, except if you use a mod like spoons overhaul mod). I guess that's a topic for another time. Let's not stray too far from the subject here.

Actually the holy nation needs to have crutches and a peg leg.
But I think that it's not a hard stretch to see them as castings out someone who loses a limb as, unfit.

Probably the same way we get our wood for our structures, out of the stone pits. XD

Totally. "See this arm? I lost the old one killing Borsk Magba, a warrior with a five thousand credit bounty on his head. As you can tell, (he says as he crushes a rock into powder,) it was worth it."

Well, it could be an iron stick. Since they don't attack anyone carrying staffs and clubs, iron-peg-leg would also be fine.

Probably, though you might get some nervous onlookers. Untill you show that it's not really a part of your body, at that point they'll just gossip about you maybe being a skeleton behind your back.

So, maybe add peg legs and hook arms to the game to make it lore realistic?

Yes, I believe someone already asked for that in another topic.

OP has a very good point in that more people would be needing limb replacements if they were soldiers. However it might be cheaper in a day where a man is worth 100 cats to just conscript more slaves. Only the most elite forces, or people rich enough to spend thousands of cats on a decent replacement, would get a replacement. If the FCS could add in different limbs (quality would be based on "armour grade") then at least we could make select npcs use prosthetic limbs. An automated system isn't really needed though.
