So I've been thinking..

Currently you can use any weapon you want at any time, even switching mid combat, be it ranged or melee.

You just need to micro every person in your squad..

But what about weapon tabs?

Like we have now, but we have another tab or two (tabs like the ones for multiple squads) each tab would have it's own set of weapons that you carry and that apply weight.

I'd love to be able to quickly switch my whole squad from crossbows to two handed melee weapons..

Use crossbows to pick off some guys while they close in, then once they get close, switch to your two handed melee and go berserk?

I'm not asking for any automatic switch, but an extra tab or two in the inventory, and possibly something in the main UI to switch the entire squad.

Yeah, i feel like this game could use such a thing too. Or maybe make the AI recognise a certain distance as to when to use the ranged weapon and when not? Maybe that's a bit time consuming to code in? I dunno.

They already do that, they will use crossbows if the enemy is far away, and once the enemies closes into melee they switch to the secondary melee weapon.

Unfortunately, as the crossbow takes up the primary weapon slot we cannot use it and a two handed weapon, or a bigger one handed weapon.

In order to use both crossbows and larger weapons currently you partly have to have a large backpack to carry it, and secondly, when in melee you need to manually switch every character in the squad from using the crossbow to the larger melee weapon. so it's not like this would add functionality that isn't already there, this would just make it quicker..

We currently have 2 back slots for weapons, top left, to bottom right, and top right to bottom left, I don't see why those slots can't be utilized while you have a crossbow on your back?

Obviously this would not be ideal for new characters as the weight of a crossbow and a two handed weapon would likely slow them down significantly, but once you get your strength up that shouldn't be an issue, though obviously the weapons in the other slots should still apply their weight.

Yea, that's right. This is something else but feel like there should be a slider for how you want to earn your xp too. Do you want it at 1x or 5x. You should be able to pick a choice in this because personally it's way too slow to get anywhere. I mean it's maybe fun the first times you have played a new game but after the 10th, the 15th it gets kinda tedious to get anywhere.

Also how do you use your crossbows? I currently have 3 hiver assassins that uses the eagle one as a sniping weapon. It's quite the sight tbh. :D

Currently I'm running a squad of 5 for adventuring, each equipped with a old world Mk I or II, Personally I don't like the eagles cross too much as it looks far too cumbersome to use (actual model wise)

It looks huge and like it would tip forward if I try to hold it. and I find the Oldworld MK I and II are good enough for most targets.

The rate of fire helps when enemies are charging as well, while the eagles cross may kill a few on the way, the oldworld crossbows fire fast enough to stagger most enemies charging (giving more time to fire) weaken limbs of many of them, and even kill a couple, depending on the enemy.

I have like close to 50 people in my faction right. 15 Skeletons chugging along with labour work and farming and about 20 sheks as "soldiers". The hivers are my people "in between". They both serve as spies and recruites as well as reconnaisance units for scouting out enemies. Because they were once worker drones i had to outfit them with artificial limbs to atleast make them a little stronger and better at using a crossbow and dexterity based skills. (thanks to the peeler mod i could amputate their limbs. It wasn't easy though since they are kinda squishy.) It's a bit like the Macedonian army model where you have the main phalanx army and a smaller units (i think they are called phalangites?) that are quick and light to protect the sides.

Honestly i have both the mk1 and eagle with me depending on the situation. They are also my supliers for the many fortresses i have build over the continent. I'm planning to use my Shek cyborg army to demolish the HN soon and maybe after that even the UC. But i think i'm first gonna kill off the bugman to get an Alliance with the Shek.
