I used to play this game a lot on my older laptop with no problems, but I can not get 10 minutes of playtime on my new one which has better CPU, GPU, RAM and so on.

The game keeps on crashing after short plays.
I updated the GPU drivers and lowered graphics settings as recommended by many. it still crashes.

it crashes randomly I can not work out the reason behind this.

thanks for the help in advance.

Hmm, so you already tried drivers... Might be worth disabling shader caching for Kenshi in the nvidia control panel, has been known to help similar issues before.

Would also be worth trying this mod here, as it has been recently helping avoid rendering crashes for some users. To install, extract the dll files into your Kenshi folder.

- disabling shader caching for Kenshi in the nvidia control panel:

I could not find the option for kenshi in specific, so I disabled it completely in General. Restarted the laptop .... Played the game crashed again.

3 characters - mining iron - a little fight with hungry bandits - mining again for a couple of minutes - crash

I included the crash report here.

- the Vulkan mod option:
I already tried that, the thing is when I place the files in kenshi folder the game does not start.
The mod page says if it does not start then my device is not compatible with Vulkan (which is strange because I know my GPU is listed).
I tried installing the Vulkan runtime and the SDK both same the game just sits Idle in the task manager but does nothing.

it is strange because it worked fine on my older laptop without ever crashing. despite the lower specs.

would running the game in compatibility mode help? like windows 10, 8 or 7?

It would certainly be worth a shot. Unfortunately this is crash has only recently gotten a spike in the past couple weeks, still not sure where the source is yet, so it's worth it to try anything you can think of.

Another thing that might be worth trying is reverting to an older driver version for your GPU, could be a new driver update is the cause. The reports I've gotten so far are all Nvidia cards, so it would line up with a possible driver update.
