wars? colours? Here at Crazy Vasili's we don't believe in either.(What in hell is blue?) If in place of town there is Crazy Vasili's, then town no go boom. But if town not have Crazy Vasili's, then clearly they want not to pass the savings to you. (or the saving of you) At Crazy Vasili's we strongly believe in politics, you buy one politician and the second one will be free! (warning, product may be broken, defective or useless) Our goal at Crazy Vasili's is to spread low low prices and sales to all peoples of Kenshi desert, Just remember slogan, Who is the boss of you. Me, I am the boss of you!

Do you have a task manager or flow chart or a Scrum something...??
That could help a lot for us to know what actually are the changes and what are the consequences about upgrading to that new feature earlier...
And then you could add a better pathfinding, more complete IA and more numbers to factions, like new factions and big factions (which shouldn't grow if the game is still low in performance...this means less fun until then for the advanced gamers)
Changes in the gameplay, more fun to the players and big change if the IA does all that too (carry companions and stuff)... I think it's an important one, but well... gotta think if the game balance will change or not, and if you will fix the balance in the meantime or not.
Anyway, this changes means FUN!
However, missions + dialogue are just cosmetics for now, while you can still make another big changes in your game, that will greatly affect later decisions in the development.
They should wait until very later on, when you get the Indiegogo faction creation dudes to actually create their factions and then counter balance that as you see fit... or not.
However, the intelligence and a few new enemies, like real hordes or enemy camps should be added soon, to see if guards would defend against an attack from a bandits and later on attack their lair to make them stop.
The most important features are the ones that will bring big changes first and allow a lot of easier and faster upgrades later on, killing the hardwork first and going to the fun stuff later.
Just a quick idea, you know this because you code stuff, but a reminder won't hurt, right?
Thanks for this game.
It is a dream come true for me, to see a real game such as this.

If this is easy, it should be done first. That's it, no comments.Add endurance and fitness elements (easy)
I guess that the performance should be focused first since us, the Alpha testers could actually find bugs and the IA/loading/lag wouldn't bother us so much in computers with lower performance..."Multi-threading (means that performance
will skyrocket and we can have whole
armies running around) (big job)"
And then you could add a better pathfinding, more complete IA and more numbers to factions, like new factions and big factions (which shouldn't grow if the game is still low in performance...this means less fun until then for the advanced gamers)
This is amazing and will bring great changes in the gameplay(Alpha tester will have more fun)"Sleeping + healing -> leading to carrying
your wounded -> leading to buying
buildings -> research + crafting"
"Simple jobs + missions, dialogue"

The factions are also fun, but not much gameplay trough that."More factions and enemies, variety and intelligence."

For your first quote, you have answered it with your second quote. Chris had established a survey (located on first page of this topic) that asked the forum populus what they wanted him to do next. Most voted for Multi-threading, because it was the longest to complete and would take allot longer if pushed to the side. Buildings and crafting is the next focus. Currently, there is not a lot of features implemented , so to give players a larger taste of the Kenshi style and to have more to present (to boost sales) it is only natural for Chris to take this route. He was very active with fine-tuning Kenshi, so the addition of the planned content will allow the players to do more and give Chris time to work on media/fixes/responding. So is more of a balancing needs rather than a lets do the easy stuff first.

Its all about balancing needs and time Rancorr, and you already know that.(Hence, your quote above) So, I agree with much of what you said good sir!Rancorr said:

Sorry, toaster Assassin, you are right... I was half asleep while writing this
and began to follow up this project about 3 days ago... ;D
These were just ideas from the overall picture that I could get by reading the forums...
Therefore, I asked for flow charts or Scrum lines... some sort of workflow about everything made until now and what is to come. With that, we could really help, understand and it would even explain to newcomers as me what is the current state of development of the project.
I might spend some time gathering every uptade/patch notes and create a list of all the features currently on the game, which are still in progress and then ask you guys for some news of what shall be next.

Most upcoming features/updates are usually mentioned by Chris on the homepage of lofigames.com. Constructible buildings are the current focus (as stated on may,2nd) and would take an estimated two weeks. A list of current/implemented features would definitely help many newcomers.

If they kill you, then they would not be able to sell you as a slave (Unless they sell your dead body to some idiot sand ninja). Also even if you have a well trained squad, you can still put yourself in a bad situation. (i.e. being in the middle of nowhere, many wounded units and several bandit patrols advancing on your position.) No matter how hard you train, if you are an idiot then there is a way to fail.

Also, for game balance there shouldn't be a way to just train until max stats. It is not realistic either.
Plus eventually when the whole 'dynamic world' thing comes in the enemies should be stronger as well. They should level up and have persistent groups of units. At least if I have understood Chris's design philosophy correctly.

Well, you don't gain nearly as much exp if you win easily. Also, the author said level-scaling sucks and that he would never, ever, ever add it. Instead, infamy would mean that larger numbers of people would come knocking on your door (but they were always there), and that you can now go into more dangerous areas.
I know Kenshi is still in the works and there will be a lot of stuff added as it progresses but here are some Ideas that so far would be cool to add, I'm not sure if they have been mentioned or anything yet but here it goes. (all personal opinion)
Use the Ctrl+F to find them faster, Type the number like 10. for Town/City Boarder's etc.
1. Vehicles ***Un-Needed**
2. Ranged Weapon's
3. The Ability to Modify your stuff
4. Stealth Element
5. Building your own stuff
6. Different Fighting Styles
7. More Weapon Variates
8. Having Mayors/Leaders
9. Starting your own Criminal underground
10. Town/City Boarder's
11. Bounty Hunters
12. Politics
13. Shady Deals
14. Resources
15. Laws
16. Direct Control
17. Hotkeys
18. Roads
19. Mounts
20. Quests/Missions
21. Reputation
22. AI Mercs
23. Dynamic World/Cities/Towns
24. Mapmarkers
25. Faction Relations
26. Pets
27. More Armor Types
28. Diverse Faction Control
29. Strongholds and Hideouts
30. Outposts
31. Diverse City/Town Management
32. Invest in Cities/Towns
Also If you do like any of the idea and want to implement them, I can explain in more detail how the mechanics would work. lord-bok@hotmail.com
***1. Vehicles - Not tanks or anything to OP (unless you want to add OP vehicles) but just stuff like buggy's, trucks, 4x4's etc mainly for transport, maybe run people over. They could require fuel and need repair's to add a realism element. Maybe make it possible Sto modify your vehicles (paint jobs, addons like spikes, bumpers etc)**** Un-needed
2. Ranged Weapon's - Maybe not fire-arms, but stuff like Crossbows, Bow and arrows, slings, Throwing Spears/knifes, Molotov's (when you have a fire spreading engine, for houses etc), Dart Guns, harpoons, spear guns, Bolt guns etc. (gas powered guns)
3. The Ability to Modify your stuff - like Paint and fortify your clothes, weapons. and put symbols on your gear like dragon icons, maybe make it possible to upload tiny picture from your computer for you own symbols (as well as pre-added ones) etc. Being able to add stuff to your weapons, sharpen your weapons.
4. Stealth Element - I'm not sure how to go about doing this, maybe like Line of sight and lighting with skill points in stealth (fallout style), Maybe ninja style with sand colored (as well as other colors) sheets to hide under when in the deserts (as well as other areas). Also being able to stealth kill (silently with a knife or short sword) also pickpocketing.
5. Building your own stuff - I know this will already be implemented but also being able to change the color/ design of your stuff you build would be good. Maybe add mounted Heavy crossbow/Cannon weapons to put on your walls. Gates that you can open and close at will.
6.Different Fighting Styles - When you you wear different weapons and being able to switch between Heavy (slow, more damage) Light (fast, less damage) and Normal (no change) fighting styles. Also being able to go to weapon masters to learn how to be better at weapon classes as well as learning new ways to fight.
7. More Weapon Variates - Swords, Blunts, Duel hand, 1-Handed, 2-Handed, Axes, Pole-arms, Shields, Thrown. All with there own fighting styles and masters that would teach you new moves.
8. Having Mayors/Leaders - in each town/cities that you can bribe/blackmail/assassinate/intimidate for power, like being immune to that towns laws or even up to taking over the town/city as a whole.
9. Starting your own Criminal underground - Being able to bribe/blackmail/assassinate/intimidate, Steal and sell, deal in drugs, slave trades, smuggling etc
10. Town/City Boarder's - With a wanted level so the town's/cities police come after you and try to arrest you/kill you, but being able to flee to other towns or crossing by boarders, Each character having there own bounty (so not your whole faction being wanted, just the certain character), also being able to bribe away your bounty with anyone from your faction. with a % chance of getting arrested.
11. Bounty Hunters - They come after the characters with the bounty, not the faction, but if your faction helps fight them off and the bounty hunter gets away, all the characters involved in the fight would also get the same bounty.
12. Politics - When you are able to start your own towns, with your mayor character, you would be able to talk to other mayors about politic, this would enable chat options like Bribing, organizing wars, setting up trade routes, threatening them for resources, buying the town but leaving it under AI supervision ( so you would give them orders like telling them to attack places etc, but the AI would manage the town as a whole).
13. Shady Deals - Being able to go to bandit strongholds to "Hire" them to attack town/cities/factions and also being able to deal a truce so they do not attack you troops/caravans.
14. Resources - Adding resources in the game like, Salt mines, gold mines, copper mines, all types of mines, as well as farms (animals and food) then refining buildings like refinery's, smelts, weapon presses etc so trade routes have point as well as being able to take hostage city mines etc as well a being able to have a smuggling ring.
15. Laws - each town/city having its own set of laws and contraband, so this would pave a road for smuggling rings also ( a town that has banned liquor, smuggling liquor would be a great business) also some towns would let you carry weapons and some would not etc.
16. Direct Control - If you have ever played Men of War, A similar Direct Control mode would be cool, it wouldn't have to be flashy just when you are controlling them, wsad - movement, LMB attack, RMB - Block, F - change weapons etc
17. Hotkeys - Like "I" and "M" for stuff like Inventory and Map
18. Roads - Even like sandstone roads that when you were on it it would boost your speed by some sort of %, also Traders, caravans, etc would travel along these so you would be able to set up tolls and ambushes.
19. Mounts - Like horses, cows, camels, donkeys, elephants etc that you could ride on, or get to pull wagons with people/items on them, caravans would also use these for trading stuff across the desert. (Half the Idea from Graeywulf)
20. Quests/Missions - Maybe have bulletin boards up in each town/city so that you and other AI Mercs can complete for Items, Reputation, Money etc
21. Reputation - A reputation system is always something fun to work towards, Each Town/City would have its own stats and one of the stats would be Reputation towards certain characters and your faction as a whole. The Higher your reputation, the more likely people will join you from that town, sometime police could let you away with small crimes, people would rejoice in the streets when you walk by etc (assuming you have Good-non aggressive reputation there) also you would have a better chance to take over the town (with force or diplomacy) depending on your public relations etc
22. AI Mercs - Have other NPCs with a dynamic AI that would travel around, get rep up, take on quests, save Towns/cities, join sides, hire followers, basically everything you do besides build a base, maybe they can build a small stronghold.
23. Dynamic World/Cities/Towns - Cities and the World would change with or without you, City boarders would expand due to war, their walls would expand, more buildings would be built, small Towns could flourish in time and become huge Cities. New Towns could be build, ownership of Towns/Cities could change due to war/assassinations (AI hitmen). All this without your character being involved, but of course you can be involved and speed/slow the processes or stop them completely.
24. Mapmarkers - Being able to mark your own map full of your own map markers so you would know where stuff is Be it a bandit stronghold, your own stronghold/hideout/town/city caves, etc
25. Faction Relations - factions that would and would not like each other and would go to war frequently. As well as factions have have alliances with each other, that would support each other during conflict (like wars not civil problems like if you attacked the town, unless you have an army/faction)
26. Pets - Being able to get your own pets that would fight with/for you and be 100% loyal to you, They could include Hyenas, Dogs (different breeds Shepard's, Pitbull's, Hybrid Breeds) Wolfs (maybe), etc. They would have there own stats and levels as well as being able to heal them, but not direct control (maybe)
27. More Armor Types - I'm Sure this will happen anyway, but maybe you would get your samurai armors but then if you go west, you could start finding plate armors, or Arabic styled armors, just a lot of armor types so your faction can stand out.
28. Diverse Faction Control - When you start your own faction, you would be the leader of this faction (duhh) but you could have a bench or table or some sort of item or even an adviser in your faction HQ (stronghold, City/Town, Hideout) that you would interact with and it would bring up a menu on how you want control you faction, options could include (but not limited to) Armor style (Samurai, Plate, Etc) Colors of armors/weapons/flags, Icons (like a cross or something) for your flags and equipment. Your political standings with other factions (that you have met, other would be shown when you have met them), how aggressive your faction is, how many between how many men/women would be in your patrols, Your Faction boarders (only if you own a Town/City, Not stronghold, they don't have boarders) and more.
29. Strongholds and Hideouts - There would be Strongholds and Hideouts across the desert some friendly some not, there would be some for each factions, including factions that are in the works of becoming big factions (Everyone has to start somewhere) as well as bandit strongholds etc that you would go to for political/business reasons (hiring, etc). You as well would be able to make your own Stronghold or hideout, a hideout would typically be like 1-2 buildings that are mostly hidden (tavern that has a trapdoor for your hideout etc) but a stronghold would be a fortified military base that does not have resources or villages (npcs) but it would have traders, inn etc as well a heavy gates and walls to prevent invasions.
30. Outposts - These are similar to Strongholds but they are for the purpose of Cities to expand and colonize to areas, They would only be able to be built if they are for a City faction (not a town or smaller) they would also increase the city faction's boarders and would warn the cities of invasions etc they also would not have resources.
31. Diverse City/Town Management - When you do start your own town/city (taking over/creating) you would have a mayor and a mayor's office that you would appoint one of your fellow (controlled) characters to. then when you use this character you would go to the mayors office and interact with something (similar to Faction control) and be able to decide stuff about your city, Resources, Trade routes, How the resources are gathered, industry, Guards, Law, as well as the build option plus more. With the resource gathering, Each city/town should be near (but doesn't have to be) some sort of mine, greenland, water source so that you can set NPCs to gather resources and export them etc. (in a non-micromanagement way). Also mayors would not be able to go on missions and kill bandits etc they mainly stay in the town, with the exception of visiting other towns for political reasons.
32. Invest In Cities/Towns - This would give that town more money to buy goods via trade and hire more guards, hire more workers for increased production, help expand their walls make relations better with you, Hire more caravan guards, it would give the towns an advantage over town that are poor and cannot afford to progress. - Thank you Dzen for your idea

- Thank you Dzen for your idea

ok most (70% i think) of what you have said has been posted already, its great that people want to have there ideas heard but we really need to start re-using posts, having myltiple posts about figthing stances or building isn't going to make an idea see better, its just going to make people annoyed. sorry for rumbling on this form though
back to this post, i like the town boarder thing, that is something that was implented in skyrim and was what made the game a little bit funner since if you kil people i a town and then go to a town that is on the other side of the map then that town should immediatly fight you for a crime against a diffrent city that might of acually been owned from and enemy of this town.
also i don't think vehicles are going to implented since we chris doesn't really what any mounts anyway.

All current features are located under here http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... f=5&t=1069. Reposting is really unnecessary, either try finding your old topic or post under relevant topics like What do you want next?(http://www.lofigames.com/phpBB3/viewtop ... f=5&t=1069).
Reposting just adds to the clutter and confusion (It is easier for Chris to view/comment on ideas if they are in the same spot.

Yes, level scaling sucks. I never suggested it. What I have read before is that enemies will be persistent. This means that if they get beaten up but not killed then they will retain their stats. If you should encounter this group again later they may be able to contend with your group.aattss wrote:Blxz wrote:Also, for game balance there shouldn't be a way to just train until max stats.
At least if I have understood things correctly.
