It sounds terrible. I can't remember most of that huge wall of text since I read it a while ago, but I hope that the focus stays on people. Robotic limb replacements are fine if the developer wants to go that way, and robotic automated turrets for base defence or something similar would be fine but I find myself wondering what would be the point of robotic dudes running about? Over the top.

Ok full body cloning I say no. Robots...on the fence, cloned body parts on the fence.

Well, how far will the robotics go?

Fallout II far = derelict robots inside that old advanced tech bunker that your guy thinks is some abandoned temple.

An ability to remedy the loss of limbs idea.(but then again a surgeon/ advanced medic ability can fix that)

Judging by some of the doors and houses Kenshi seems like a post-apocalyptic setting. (Plus some of the items).

ah but kenshi isn't set in post apocoleps (that we are for sure of (also blxz don't you say anything about apocleps cause i don't know how to spell it :) )) the reason why the game is desert is because the landscape isn't the highest priorety (or this is an acuall desert climate) i think the robotics will be used for machinized turnets and stuff.

but mabye we could also build robots that cost a lot of money but have great stats (for what they are programed to do) and don't need much help other than mabye oil or a corupt data chip (which might make the robot go rogue  )
I'M BACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think robots are too advanced. Chris said there will be bows. That's all he said about ranged weapons.

I mean, don't you think you could craft guns if you can craft robots ? Robots are mechanical and electronics, at least for the AI and programmation. Guns are only mechanical. Or maybe there's no powder in this world ?

Wait and see. I guess Chris already knows but he won't tell us.

Maybe not post-apocalyptic, but there are blast doors on the huge outposts and robotic parts......so maybe industrial aged? (or some time where mechanical contraptions meets swords).

mabye toster mabye (by the way awesome mod... don't ask me why i put this in gamplay)

rogdan where did you get ranged weapons in a thread about medical and robotics?

my robot thing was just an idea. i really think that the robotic parts will be used to make computerised turnets (don't need a person to shoot at the enemy)

but mabye robotic parts are just gears for gates and traps.

there is no way to know what is going on in the bearded mans mind

One time a psychologist tried to analyse Chris's mind......the psychologist was later found in the gutter with beard on his face and a indiegogo perk that makes him think his is awesome*. (any questions?)

Sorry for a relatively fresh revival of this, but I got to say I love and hope that robotics stays, but only for limb replacement. It doesn't have to be hi-tech, it can be crude, and held together with duct tape, because I get the impression that there are simply not enough resources (EDIT: in the Kenshi universe) for something incredibly hi-end.

It doesn't need to make sense either (from a "relating it to modern/real world history or culture") I mean it is a fantasy RPGRTS game, and it's refreshing to see something that's quite different in this vain.

Really? Source?

Instead of robotic limbs, what about transplanted ones? You could keep slaves for spare parts!

From a more supply/demand perspective, there could be a lack of gunpowder/saltpeter to explain the lack of black powder weapons.
Robotic prosthetics could be possible, but they would have to be varied in quality, and they'd have some kind of large setback to them (car battery backpack?).

nahh i would think like the robotic limb would be like a sword or something, so you can't just have a limb get cut off then get a wooden hand and go back to hitting people with a fragmented ax.

and for archers you get Vash's hand (trigun.... and the robotic limb would be like an airsoft blow dart, not a grenade launcher)

Even though i find the robotics mechanics proposed to be carefully considered, i don't agree in implementing the idea into such an extent (robots fighting for you even though not overpowered). I feel such an implementation would ruin the atmosphere of the game. I have read several content suggestions for addition and i feel the same about them. They would ruin the game's atmosphere making it something else for example adding medieval european armors, or increasing city populations via a birth system. The game as far is more than playable, with missing content such as specialized containers for materials or wider variety of japanese style armors, or full implementation of character stats and skills being implemented at later stages (i assume). In my eyes the game is about squad and base management with rpg elements in a post apocalyptic japanese style world with limited technology. If the game deviates from that, through not carefully considered additions, we will be talking for another game.

We have had a similar way of how the Robotics skill should work, I adore the way you wrote it, so cult-classic

OMG on the Implants idea, so awesome, I have seen npcs with ragdoll arms, I assume it's permanently taken out, wow.. the players could be doctors and enchance their squaddies, their chars and npcs for a price, or have some experienced npcs do it, why not be a robo-cop? all arms made of metal, two hearts implants that could prevent death to a extent, muscle-enchancers, nerve implants, all with visuals, optics implants that can improve tracking and ranged skills, regenerative implants, costly, that can repair and repleshin limps, blood, nanitoids you can use to even revive the fav squaddie you lost recently. So much potential indeed.

Oh, and the robotics skill, please, I implore, read my feature request topic, Robotics Skill 2014, I'm sure you might like it. I'm loving the clones btw.
