no sound effects
There was a thread in the off topic subforum somewhere in which people listed all their horrible music choices that they like to play in the background with kenshi. You could go have a look at that for some suggestions.

Welcome to Kenshi!
Chris will hire a contractor to make the sound effects/audio for Kenshi when he can. In terms of music I believe Chris said that he was not planning on adding any to Kenshi. Instead of music, there would be a strong focus on sounds pertaining to the Kenshi environment.

Ah, yes it is a new feature that most games are just now starting to use.
Also there is no evidence yet that suggests a post-apocalyptic environment. (Maybe its in Disneyland, who knows

I do not care about the music. I only care about the sound effects ...
I always shut the music in all my games to enjoy sound effects and as especially the surrounding sounds, they have a significant impact realistic feel of the game. of course not all games are care abut this point.

Well I care not about sound effects (except the calm sound of the desert), I enjoy listening to relaxed music that isn't post-apocalyptic rock in the long walks to so then I have something good to listen to and to show that this game isn't "THERE IS ONLY SWORDBATTLES TO MAKE HUGE PROFIT F**K TRADING AND EVERYTHING ELSE!". Just one music wold be good.

The romans developed cement. And had swords as well.ownpk611 wrote:Oh I thought cause of cement walls and the fact we are using swords and yet still have a pretty advanced level of technology that it was post-apocalyptic
(admittedly different swords to the ones we see in kenshi)

The post-apocalyptic idea comes from the fact that everything's a wasteland and just the general ramshackle look of things. You can't tell me the game doesn't hint the post-apoc feel in any way.Blxz wrote:The romans developed cement. As for music, i think it should have only title screen music, lol.
And I don't see why simple placeholder sounds can't be implemented, there's plenty of free-to-use sound websites, would be nice to add some cheesy blade impacts and grunts from being hit until the real sounds come in

I actually never even considered it taking place on Earth, more of some desert planet
(not that it would make complete sense)

the sounds may be free to use, but the sound engine isn't. When Chris has enough cash to buy a sound engine, we'll get sounds and i believe he said sth about no ingame music except for the title screen / menu music. I hope he still thinks about doing it that wayDrSalvador wrote: As for music, i think it should have only title screen music, lol.

Ah. I never thought about the sound engine. That's intereting. I hope the new art will be finished soon lol (the character models specifically)1337 wrote:the sounds may be free to use, but the sound engine isn't.
